It's nearly impossible to tell the difference while actually watching it. One thing those screenshots don't show tho is the unusual brightness issue during the first few minutes of the UHD.

How is the Supreme Cinema edition different from the standard bluray found in the 4K UHD deal?

Take a look and see for yourself, IDK if you can compare it to the BD from the 4K, but the supreme is the best on BD

They're the exact same, surely?

The only difference is the packaging.

Unless someone now has a good 4k capture technique, I am not sure that we will all see the same results for the UHD. Checking a couple scene on my OLED65E6p (sharpness at 0, hdr standard) the results seem sharper then the ones captured.

(You can also right-click on images and open in separate tabs to compare)

Not the same frames but similar scenes.

When you view film running, the eye sees 24 samples a second and the brain agregates and averages the samples to create an integrated whole (kind of like the super resolution technique of taking several shots of the same image and adding them to get a sharper cleaner image than a single shot does) and the movie looks sharper and less grainy with film in motion than with still images. (That's why there's a disclaimer about still images on the bottom of Br.com screenhots). With higher resolution images this "purple haze" might show higher than on low resolution screenshots in stills but in motion be lifted more being a smaller part of the whole "base" image lying underneath that the brain/eye will integrate.

Watching this on my X900E now. My god this is a gorgeous transfer. Colours are deep and beautiful, blacks even deeper. I love it. Feels like I'm seeing what HDR can do for the first time.

I think most people who are blown away by this missed the Supreme Cinema Series release.

This 4K UHD looks superb. I also better understand the undertones of this movie now that I am older

I missed that release because it's Region A locked and there was no Region B/Region Free release. But compared to the earlier releases of this film released in the UK, this release blows them all away.

This UHD trumps the Supreme Cinema Series. High Dynamic Range, Wide Color Gamut, 2160p resolution...Can't beat that!

It's included with the UK UHD (it's only release in the UK). So UK buyers can compare with that.

On paper sure, but that's rather meaningless for the viewing of this particular UHD. The only difference I noticed between the two is the unusual & distracting brightness affecting the dark scenes in the beginning of the UHD.

That brightness is probably HDR effect
