I'll will buy Halloween one again for the 4th time.

What i hope for the Canadian edition would be to have the french dub included.

Shout's contract with Universal might stipulate they get exclusive disc rights for X number of years. That might stop Universal from immediately trumping them with a UHD. Still, it's a series that sells very well on home video and I'm sure Universal will do it when they can, or they'd be very good candidates for Shout to test their own UHD market.

Not the case. Universal’s releases of both films are still in print, and Shout’s release predates Universal’s H3 Blu.

More of Lionsgate UHD catalogue releases are now up for pre-order at Zoom UK. Unfortunately Halloween (nor both Punisher movies or The Evil Dead) is not among them.

I REALLY want UHD of 2 and 3 now. Especially since the Shout re-releases are from new "4K" masters.

I know that, but nothing says that flexibility will continue with Shout's new 4k remasters, which they presumably paid a pretty penny to do. The deal might have changed, and it was a very odd deal in the first place since 99% of the time a label wouldn't license without exclusivity. In any case, that's why I wrote "might."

I, too, will pick up the first Halloween and the three sequels in the genuine UHD format if the three are released (up to Return of Michael Myers)…

Well...that is, once I BUY a UHD disc player...

It is available to preorder from wowhd for less than £15, which means tax and shipping free.

Oh wow, no more A3000 SXRD? I always got a kick out of seeing that on your equipment list as I had the same display a long time ago and I rarely see it ever mentioned elsewhere on the forums.

I actually had a KDS-50A2020, not a 3000...but, yeah, that's gone in favor of a brand-spankin'-new Samsung UN65NU8000.

Don't you guys get tired of re-buying the same films? What do you do with your old discs?

Depending on the special features, I either keep the old one or sell/donate/trade. Some release’s don’t care over all of the special features. Or somethings there is an extended version on dvd but not blu-Ray.

I’m very happy with the 35th Anniversary blu unless this one is more accurate to the original color timing.

If I upgrade, I usually sell the older ones at a garage sale, flea market, ebay, etc. Then will also sell the "extras" I don't need, like digital codes and "lesser" dics, ie: DVDs or regular ol' blu-rays.

But to be honest, I don’t think I am going to get this 4k release. I can’t picture it will make much of a difference

Sell them, gift them, or plain old keep them if they've got content not on the newer edition. Made several custom combos thus far doing just that.

I usually try to unload replaced versions of discs at a BuyBacks store near me; they don't give you much for them (especially DVDs) but it's better than the replaced copy just sitting on the shelf to take space and collect dust...

Sometimes, I can't sell certain titles because they just won't take them, based on their stock at the time -- this happened recently with a few I wanted to unload that I replaced on Blu-ray, including John Carpenter's The Fog and Nighthawks. I have to keep those DVDs on the shelf until I can try to sell them off again...

With regard to Halloween, if this 4K transfer from Lionsgate proves worthy based on feedback and reviews, I'll probably sell the original Starz/Anchor Bay Blu-ray I own and maybe even the THX DVD, as close to my heart as that one is.
