I've always been a sucker for maroon/dark red and a creamish-beige (darker than my current walls) - but only one wall red and the rest in that beige. Should still go well with the current brown/black theme of the rest of the stuff.

Posters? Master & Commander, Jurassic Park, Alien. Some of my favorites. There's a lot of options, lol.

- Removing that coffee table (reflective as all hell and really unnecessary) and putting a large black area rug in its place as well as an ottoman in the middle

- New rugs/New posters

- Re-wire everything (I feel like this needs to be redone every now and then - I dont mean cut new cable and whatnot, just take it all out to clean, and then put it down again.

- See about new track lighting

- Repaint walls

- Finally get either a 3-ch or 5-ch amplifier (this is definite)

- One of the newer Panny players (for 24p on my DVDs)

- And! If I feel bold enough, a frame with absorbing panels that I can hang over some of my ceiling to tone down reflections from above.

I feel like this can all be done within my time frame. Most of it is just freshening up the place. Since I rent, I can't really get TOO crazy.
Hi JJ ~ How are things going with you .

Great ideas for your Home theater , And adding the amp will make A big difference in those B&W's . You will be vary happy you did it !

Goin good, Brent. Yea, after the whole Louie amp thing I kind of had to let that go by for a bit, but now I'm going to take it up again. Hell, I still have the RCA cables and cooler lying around collecting dust. Might as well get one of those XPA-3s or some such. The ceiling panels are what I'm most excited about though, if I can do them properly.

Hey JJ, nice to see you posting again.

Adding an absorption panel to the ceiling in my new apartment in an idea I've been thinking about as well. I'm still working out how to attach it to the ceiling as I rent and don't want to have to patch up a bunch of holes later on.

Let us know what you come up with.

Justin

Well, good news!

I have been able to save up around $1,000 for my line of upgrades.

Definitely going with the Emotiva XPA-3. That's going to happen for Christmas, or by it. But by January 1, 2010, I will have one in my house. I will get myself one.

Hopefully, I can see if I can convince my family members that I also need an UPA-2. Instead of the usual movies/gift cards they give me.

Excited over these. I've had the BJC RCA cables just lying around unused since I bought them back in May.

I will also have enough for the aesthetics upgrades - rug replacements, repainting walls, so on.

Also, for the acoustic upgrades - removing the coffee table and placing an ottoman instead, making the ceiling panel (which I will diagram on autoCAD and show you all here), using the triangulation method, etc.

Maybe even replace the fan blades and rack lighting with something that'll go with the rest of the decor.

By mid-January, the entire room should be re-done and completed. Whooo!
::goes to scheme some more::

Maybe I could use a new BR player, too...hmm...mayhaps...

PS. Anybody want my Antec Veris A/V Equipment cooler? I'm selling it since I have no use for it anymore.

Fantastic JJ! Best of wishes to you!

The acoustical ceiling panels is what I have my eye on! The AutoCad designs should be cool! In my case, I am more interested for the purpose of eliminating light reflections, but acoustics becomes an added bonus! I am actually thinking of using the same rigid insulation panel that I used for my starceiling wrapped in black velvet and hanging it directly in front and to the side of my screens. I did notice that when I installed the starceiling, the sound from my system improved quite a bit, so I think the insulation does have decent acoustic enhancing properties. It does suck that I do not have a fourth wall and instead my HT area opens up to a dining room with windows everywhere. Oh well you work with what you have. Please have your camera ready!

Hi Vega, let me know how that works for you. I am looking into bass traps next but ceiling panels are going to be in the works(eventually).

I might need another rack if I get an UPA-2, though, or carry out my dual-receiver/spkr setup (since I wouldn't want to run my amps when I'm just watching TV or whatnot). Huh. That could be a problem.

I'd need something at least - 55" wide.

This one's a beauty that matches with my decor:

http://www.racksandstands.com/Linon-...-U-LQ1645.html

But it's only 52". Oh man. I take it back. This one stole my heart.

Ok, so...hmm.

XPA-3 + new stand + rugs + more acoustic panels + ottoman = $1,000

I'm good.

JJ ~ Both stands look great , Eather one would look great in you're setup !

Amp !!!!! JJ With those B&W.s Don't starve them with A UPA-2 . There is nothing wrong with the UPA-2 as I have had one & Jason will agree that it does A stand up job !

Go with an XPA-3 & power your fronts . I personally will tell you , you will be happy you did . That is what I would do .

No, no, you misunderstand, Brent. UPA-2 AND a XPA-3. The XPA-3 is a guarantee. The UPA-2 is the uncertainty.

But an XPA-5 will allow you to bi-amp the fronts.
