thanks guys for all you comments and opinions. i actually struck up a deal for this one and it is highly recommended by a friend of mine who is heavy tube audiophiler. he actually talked to the owner and made the deal for me.

i did consider marantz, but my friend thats into tube stuff recommended a Bada HD22 to me and i bought it. it will be my first vacuum tude component to own. i guess i can change out the tube for different sounding unit. i guess i will see soon

nothing wrong with that at all.... I think the Ikons will love a tube.... I heard them on Parasound Pre-pro and amp, and i thought they were awesome....

didnt get them today the truck was late and i didnt want to travel and hour at 5pm to go ge them. so maybe by the weekend...

finally get to pick up my dali Ikon 7's this evening. cant wait to get these babies hooked up and blasting

picked up a bada tube HD CD player this week, cant wait to hear this on the new ikons

well thats the question, some say no break in and some say 50-100 hours

dynaudios need 150-200 hrs..... and yes I hear there are sonic changes.

well i finally got them home, unpacked them and set them up. WOW!! simplay amazing speakers and to think they will only get better with more hours on them i also hooked up my bada HD cd player and again WOW!!

i cant believe what i have been missing. my zune sounds like crap compared to what i got now.

ya the dealer i bought them from said they need about 100 hours to break in.

The Ikons are a little airy because of the ribbon tweeter, but overal the speakers have great detail, range and great depth, plus deep bass. the drivers are incredibly quick and accurate.

I want to hear the lektors and also the Dynaudio Excites and Focus lines, one of the 3 will probably be my next upgrade.

Congrats Ryan, I am glad you have been happy with all the speakers I have suggested.

I want a full review later....

ok but i have to be honest, you were telling me about the concepts, not the ikons. there is a huge difference between those two lines. but it doesnt matter, they are amazing!!

ya the lektors are also the lower line. airy? i dont know about that cause these babies are simply amazing. been playing music all day so far. just amazed at what i was missing!!

Well I was talking about the Concepts because you had originally had the $1300 budget, even still the Concepts and the Ikons are very close from about 21k hz and below, except the Concepts bass was a little bigger due to the 8" woofer.

The Ikons are beautiful above 21k hz because they get high up the frequency chain, but stay warm and laidback with a touch of airyness to it, which is not a bad thing.

I am glad that you are lovin these speakers. When I heard them originally, they instantly became the best speaker I have heard to-date. However for the price and performance of the Concepts, I thought they were some of the best value speakers out there with very few exceptions.

So anyways, how would you compare them against some of the other speakers you were considering? B&W, PSB, MA etc.?

as far as music goes they blow away any of those speakers. my ikons are in my dining room for 2 channel music only. i have a dedicated amp & preamp with a bada HD tube cd player i just picked up. i played some cd's for the past day now on the ikons and i swear i never heard music before this. the new abby road remastered cd was amazing.

i had a friend and his wife over and he brought his tube preamp and his shang ya tube cd player over and we demo'd about 20 different cd's today, it was great. dont get me wrong, i love my PSB setup for my HT room and infact just calibrated my subs again with my friend and they are near perfect. demo'd about 8 different blu's for him today, he was amazed.

anyways i am very happy with my new dali's. thanks again for recommending them in the first place. i am so glad i found someone in the area that is a dealer.

loving my dali's more and more. got about 20 hours on them now and they seem to be getting smoother in sound. The bada HD cd player i bought is just amazing, boy i am hearing sounds from music i never heard before. just played some beatles abby road remastered and wow!! simply amazing!!
