no specific scenes, but the entire film is emotionally resonant:
The Celebration
Forbidden Games
Fanny & Alexander
Sunrise
La Belle Noiseuse

The part on True Romance where Dennis Hopper knows he is gonna be killed by the Christopher Walken and the Mafia guys and he asks for a cigar n the sad music comes on in the background. It always makes my eyes water up. When ever I put the movie in thet is the 1st scene I watch before I actually start it.

It was always the end of Rainman for me.

Dustin is sitting on the train getting ready to leave and Tom is standing outside looking at him (with his sunglasses on presumably so you can't see his tears).

And the end of Midnight Run when he gives him the money and tells him it's a gift. He then walks off and DeNiro turns back to look at him one last time and he's gone. That movie gets me too.

Love that scene. The music adds so much to the emotion of the scene also.

"I have a message. Lieutenant Colonel... Henry Blake's plane... was shot down... over the Sea of Japan. It spun in... there were no survivors."

Always brings a tear to my eye.

Also, when Moonlight Graham walks off the field and become Doc again tears me up.

Godfather Part 3 - When Michael Corleone's daughter Mary gets shot accidentally. The silenced cry from Michael (Al Pacino) just tears me up inside.

There is an episode in season 6 of How I Met Your Mother that caught me off guard. During the show there are numbers in the scenes counting down to something. The first time I had watched the episode I didn't catch on to it. The second time I saw it I did. Marshall's parents come to New York to visit, and near the end after they leave he tries to call his dad. That's when
[Show spoiler]Lily tells him his Dad had a sudden heart attack and didn't make it.
I was in tears after seeing that scene.

just thinking about this today, the ending of the episode of Futurama where Fry finds his fossilized dog kills me. he has the opportunity to bring him back but doesnt because he thinks he would have forgotten about him, then we find out he never stopped waiting for him until he died.
movies/tv shows rarely actually bum me out but that of all things really gets me. think its because ive always been a dog person.

I had completely forgotten about Jurassic Bark. I agree, that episode always tears me up.

So what do the numbers represent?

Has The Color Purple really not been mentioned yet, or did I miss it? Lots of scenes in that one but especially the scenes where Celie is seperated from her sister and when she meets her grown-up children.

I have to join the "Field of Dreams" chorus. That also gets me every time.

E.T. certainly got the tears flowin'

Two other moments that come to mind:

The jacket scene near the end of Brokeback Mountain (Heath Ledger's acting in that movie was genius)

The final montage in the final episode of Six Feet Under. I was a total wreck after seeing that.

Oh sorry forgot to mention that the numbers were the countdown to the ending of the show, described in the spoiler tags.
