Mine continues to be BARAKA. For concert BD's I use Legends of Jazz.

Is there a certain disc you use to show off your setup?
If I was picking from your collection I'd take the hillside shootout from "Rambo" for the dudes, one of the scenes from "Ironman" for the kids, and maybe something from "Planet Earth" for the older folks.

I usually use the opening of "Top Gun" for some people, the glass breaking/sniper shop from "Wanted" for others, the opening of "Bolt" or escape in KFP for the kiddies, or the campus fight from "Incredible Hulk".

Likely, I'll be using the highway scene from "Knowing" from now on as well.

For sound I'll use "Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds: Live at Radio City" Picture, I'll usually through in a Pixar disc (they're all great)

I'f I'm showing off my sub, it's "Transformers".

the "not quite as refined as Cars/ratatouille" cgi of a Bug's Life and the tons of close ups really pop even more than the latest cgi movies

Hey! This is a great thread billpoe! I actually have a few reference blus. Baraka is numero uno for the landscapes, T2 is used to show an older film transfer and the menu system, and an episode of Band of Brothers for its pure awesomeness.

mmmm

either Sin City or Band Of Brothers.

Max Payne (even if you hate the movie) has RIDICULOUS PQ as well. Trust me.

I had a VHS hooked up as a joke and had my parents over and showed them A Bugs Life on VHS, I went on about how clean of a look it was and my parents just looked at me and sayed "I just dont see it, it looks worse than TV" I then switched over the the blu ray and watched their jaws drop.

A bugs life is the way to go..

yeah Sin City is another excellent one as well.

I try to pick a movie that I think they will/do like and then pick one with top tech specs.

if I know someone is a huge fan of say Beetlejuice or some other catalog title, and I know the blu is a huge improvement, then it becomes fun to watch their reaction because they are so familiar with previous versions.
