It is real-time .. at the beginning of the video it says that in the bottom-right quadrant.

It's about speed not memory. The CELL is different .. time to throw away the old prejudices and assumptions about how things can be accomplished.

Why are people so pessimistic wanting something to be wrong? Until screen tear is proven for this game it doesn't exist.

Am I the only one who sees the opportunities for this in the virtual sex market?

tons of new info here..

http://kotaku.com/366150/new-heavy-r...lled-lapped-up

Quote:
On Locations:
"I don't want to do a big free-roaming city like GTA, because the flow of the story will then be hard to control. Nevertheless, I do want to incorporate big sets, with a crowd, heavy populated areas like a mall and a subway are going to be in there. Of course, the gameplay has got to make use of that aspect too."

On Graphics:
"People will be surprised. Internal (Sony's) feedback on graphics has been great. This is going to be a truly next-gen game. But still, we want to do something unique with the graphics, going beyond just making the most photorealistic world we can."

On Gameplay:
"With the release of Fahrenheit, we gave the adventure genre a new grammar. We brought new ways into the genre, new words if you want to see it like that, a new vocabulaire. With Heavy Rain, where going to expand on that same grammar."

On Story:
"Heavy Rain is about normal people that have landed in extraordinary situations. I wanted a much more personal story. The first thing that came to my mind, as a father of two little boys, was that the main theme should simply be a father's love for his son. This is not a game about saving the princess or the world. Its purely about a father's love."

"The main story will revolve around 4 different characters, and we're putting the spotlight on their perceptions. The question 'what is good and what is evil' is the key here, that will be just a matter of viewpoint...I believe heavily in moral choices, I'm going to use them A LOT. They're not about being good or bad, but about finding the right balance."

Sorry, I'm on 56k. Have they even suggested when they will release Heavy Rain? It's one of my most heavily anticipated non-RPG/FPS titles. Whenever it comes out, I think the graphics will make MGS4 look like an 8-bit game.

No, maybe they'll have something to show at E3 or the Leipzig Games Convention.

Man stop beleiving the hype and wait for the actual game to be release or a Beta Video. Any machine out there can throw amazing Tech Demo. I mean, ATI did a tech demo for the 9800xt (old videocard) that is still leap better than any game i've ever saw on all machine. This is a 6 years old videocard..

Tech Demo are just that.. Tech.. and RAM is everything for texturing. You can stream texture but there's a limit to that. The PS3 have the luxury of having a HDD to stream texture because the BD rom is awful at that.

Dude someone wasn't sure it was real-time and the video said it was. Pointing out that fact and not hype are what got your knickers in such a knot over a 6 month old post?

Nothing else I said was hype. The Cell took a different approach in several areas. Speed of the subsystems was one of them. That's not hype .. that was a design decision to achieve real-time processing of data. I'll trust people in IBM that had been developing chips for 25 years. IBM chip designers with pocket protectors aren't exactly masters of hype and marketing.

Considering I didn't fall for the hype of the Xbox 1.5 despite have an Xbox .. you don't need to worry about me getting steamrolled like most when it comes to over hyped consoles. I actually spend time reading to understand .. unlike many that make assumptions about others.

Thanks for that insight I thought the game was shipping. Sorry but you deserved that.

The PS3 has both fast RAM and a design focused on real-time streaming capabilities. Seems like they thought of that. Which is why your seeing these kinds of games on the PS3.

Limit which is what in relation to this game? You don't know but your assumption is the worst. Like I said in my original post .. pessimism. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Given the design goals of the chip itself informs my optimism.

Luxury? Um ..design decision actually. They designed a PS3 system..instead of just throwing something together and dumping last gen parts on the market like some other company rushing a product to market.

You need to read some more about the performance of BD vs DVD before claiming "awful". 2x BD does not equal 2x DVD.

Also, if I remember correctly, BD has a constant bitrate i.e. 1x= 36 Mbps throughout the entire disc, whereas DVD bitrates are variable depending on the circumference of the given 'track' (not sure if the terminology is right) So 2x BD is actually faster than 8x DVD on the outer quarter or so of the disc.

Exactly. Something like DVD can achieve a higher speed overall but the rates are variable... whereas BD is at a set rate which is usually higher.

Heavy Rain was at E3 :

Outside just momentarily before eating our sandwiches, we ask the man standing with 2 big boxes in front of us what will be showing to this severely limited and exclusive closed door event held by SCEA. He replies, “I just have inFamous and Heavy Rain in these boxes here. Just waiting for them to open it up.”

I never played Indigo Prophecy, but Heavy Rain had my attention from it's first appearance. Can someone explain the gameplay of Indigo Prophecy? I've heard it's not really gameplay so to speak.
