maybe this was discussed in here before, i don't know but i wanted to ask anyway.

i bought the 1st 2 from amazon since the sorcerer's stone was on sale.

i was looking @ the packaging and the "tenatively scheduled" special features for the 8 parts, does that mean there are going to be 8 sets released or is movie # 7 gonna be in 1 package w/a double dose of extra's???

As of right now, it looks like Deathly Hallows will get two Ultimate Editions, one for each part, making eight UE's in all. I really hope that changes and they put both parts in the same package. They're putting the year number all over the packaging of each installment. How are they going to approach this if year 7 is split into two releases? I don't mind giving each part of DH its own disc (though it would be amazing if they were edited together to make a five-hour film, perhaps with an intermission in between), but they really should be packaged as one. WB's marketing this as one big film, so I'm hoping that's an indicator of what the Ultimate Edition will be like. We probably won't see it till Christmas of 2012, though it'd be nice if we got it Christmas next year (and years 5 and 6 in the summer right before DH:Part II is released in theaters).

Why put an intermission in between the films if they can't put the two films together without stoping than I would want it on two discs .

I've seen the first three or four films and enjoyed them, but like LOTR I'm waiting until the extended editions are all out and then I'll watch from start to finish.

I would already be picking these ultimate editions up if it weren't for the bulky packaging and the cost...I wish they'd just release the extended films themselves without the little books and such (because I'm not enough of a fan to even look at those once).

I wouldn't be surprised if WB gave us the extended cuts minus the physical goodies in the future. They've done it with Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, and The Wizard of Oz. Heck, Target actually has the extended cuts of years 1 and 2 as barebones DVD releases. Blu-rays can't be too far behind.

No extended cuts for Years 3 and 4 which means that the rest won't either.

Basically, WB never planned on extended cuts for the rest of the series or the directors of these two films didn't want extended cuts.

Either way, still getting these for the documentary and DTS.

Why would this means that the rest won't have extended cuts??? Totally senseless.
Deathly Hallows is still on production, they can easily order 2 an extended cut.
Order of the Phoenix I don't think will have extended cut, director wanted that way, HBP maybe.
We all knew Azkaban and Goblet have awful deleted scenes and they don't deserve to be reinserted. Why's the surprise?
And actually, they haven't confirmed that this won't have the extended. Maybe they just didn't mention it.

Well, I may have spoke too soon because apparently, during the Harry Potter marathon on ABC Family this past weekend, they showed extended cuts of Azkaban and Goblet.

So, they'll probably be there even if this announcement doesn't state it.

I pretty sure that all the Ultimate Edition will have Extended Cuts. That's the only interest for theses editions.
As you say Jumpman, they are not advertised in the announcement but will probably be there.

How were the extended cuts for 3&4? Are they any good? Do they only include scenes which we already saw in bonus materials on prev. editions?

Thinking about getting 1&2, but the lack of information about ext. cuts for 3&4 is sort of no buy for me.

I think the first two HP Extended Editions were submitted to the British Ratings Board and the MPAA for classification. If there are to be EEs of 3 and 4, we should look there.
