I agree, another movie we need to make a statement on. I'm tired of the HD-DVD camp getting ammo, which they would if sales between the two were even close.

So I have been wondering, granted 300 will sell fairly well on hd dvd as well, but this past week we got over 70% in sales, do you think we will be able to hold our sales or perhaps near 80%....the way the amazon pre-orders have been going my guess would be closer to 80%

300 on Amazon pre-order! Hope its as good as everyone says it is.

...as for shooter, I havent seen it yet, just rented to watch tomorrow, but didnt read much good on the BD disc, not great pic quality and no uncompressed soundtracks? i think i'll be content with a rent.

Did my part and put in the pre-order at Amazon a long time ago. Should be getting it either Tuesday or Wednesday thanks to Prime.

Ha ha, we won't pummel you, but even if the movie didn't bowl you over like it did so, so many others, as a Blu-ray supporter, it would be nice to have you on board, as is the case with so many others in the thread. Again, a massive spread in sales results will make for one heckuva good press release for Blu-ray!... Can't wait man!!!... keep it up guys and spread the word...

I say I'd generally agree re: significance of the release with comparisons to what Matrix did for DVD, though there are probably a couple other highly anticipated releases that will also drive high def format adoption (Spiderman 3 and Transformers come to mind as a couple noteworthy ones). Nevertheless, just spread the word and don't leave this one to chance. 300 is the first major, mouthwatering high def title to be released at a time when both formats are moving along at a fair, more comparable pace. HD DVD fanboys will NOT shut up if the sales numbers on this one are even remotely close...

Here's a question for everyone here.

Why do you think this will have an impact? Everyone knows there are far more capable blu-ray players in the market. If every single HD DVD owner and every single blu-ray owner bought 300, blu-ray sales would out number HD DVD sales by quite a big margin. But would it really have an impact?

If HD DVD players are continuing to sell (The Toshiba HD-A2 has been between #1 and #2 in player sales on Amazon for awhile), then studios know that titles will also continue to sell.

The HD DVD group knows how many HD DVD players are out there. The percentage of player owners that buy 300 is the most important thing.

How much were DVD players when the matrix was released?

And how many homes had TV's that the DVD players would be good on?

I was just going to rent 300 from Netflix, but after reading all of your enthusiastic banter, I will now purchase it from BB this Tuesday.

Count me in!
