IMO '81 and '82 were better years, but for 1980:

Breaker Morant
Ordinary People
The Empire Strikes Back
The Blues Brothers
Caddyshack
Stir Crazy
The Gods Must Be Crazy
Nine to Five
The Shining
Used Cars

What database are you using to sort by date? I had to go through my Netflix rating history.

EDIT: I forgot all about Stir Crazy. It just bumped Gloria. What a great movie. Pryor and Wilder (in that movie anyway) were the best comedy pairing since Laurel and Hardy.

I'm too lazy to do all these lists but I'm probably closest to yours, so I'll just +1.

Although I have seen Maria Braun - great film. But not Angie Vera.

No "Empire Strikes Back"? By far the best of the year. Best comedy that year was "Airplane".

Yes. We KNOW you want to.

Everyone's else's thread just has to turn into your own sooner or later, doesn't it?--Just doesn't feel right, there being a thread on "your" board that you haven't Got, right?

(And yes, dcowboy, those persecuted Xanadu fans have to stick together. )
