Guys remember some time ago when we were all talking about those new tv's. What is a Plasma? What the hell is an LCD. Now we cant live with out themhttps://forum.blu-ray.com/images/smi...orted/rock.gif. I work at one of the main retail stores and when the samsung 3d was placed on display i was like "Ok my kids would love this". But if you have not seen the Panasonic Plasma 3d go take a look. If this is the new directions of tv we will all have them in the next few years.

I remember when the light bulb was invented and I was like "who needs light bulbs when candles are just fine". I thought the electric companies were just trying to make money. Now 131 years later and I can't wait for my first 3DTV.

I am not one of those people but they are the ones who keep the idea afloat until the rest of the world buys into it.
I have historically been an early adopter (my Sony BDP-S1 looks great, although it is unplugged!), but I will not make the mistake of buying into 3D technology at an early stage.

20$ is what Amazon charges for the cheap one, other places might charge something else. 45$ is MSRP of the 3 disk set. You can't compare the store price of one thing to MRSP of an other. That is why Clayton compared MRSP of both. Maybe some place will have Christmas Carol for 5$ when it comes out, no one knows what it will be so we can't compare retail of the two. For movies, MRSP is just there so Amazon and others can say look you are getting X% off that is why if you go to http://www.amazon.com/Alice-Wonderla...4848661&sr=8-3

3D will succeed in some way. Here is why I think it will succeed. Eventually all larger 40"+ tvs will have a 3D feature and it will not cost anymore than you standard 2D TV. You will eventually see the 2D TVs leave the market. So this is a win win for the consumer and manufacturer. Once you have the feature you can use it or not. It is your choice. But once the glasses become standard and the prices come way down, I bet most people will buy them. Blu-rays will have the 3D version and the regular 2D version pacaked together. Another win, win.

So you may not buy a new TV now but in the future you will need one and this function will be on it. I have already seen the glasses price fall. The Samsung rechargable glasses were $200 a month ago and now amazon is selling them for $150. Like any technology at first the prices are sset high just like Blu-ray was when it came out and when DVDs first came out. I paid $400 for my first DVD player and I remember paying a $100 for a VCR movie when they first came out. Give it time.

For me, 3D as it stands right now, is just a business plan, not a true beneficial technology.
It has more a place with Gaming than true Cinema Art.

But hey, that's just me. I ain't buying it.

how is it fixed, that makes no sense. The only thing you show is that you don't understand the difference between the limitations of one tech and a revolutionary idea.

Beta got eliminated (might as well start with the first on the list) but that was a tech, the supposed FAD at the time, VCRs, (taping and watching movies on Tapes) went on for a long health life as VHS, same with HD DVD and LD and the rest of your list.

You know, some of the 3D tv's coming out will supposedly be able to turn a standard 2D movie into 3D, now that's cool. Would love to watch "Forbidden Planet" and "This Island Earth" in 3D ! ! ! I'm sure there will be many more I would use that feature for.

I don't think 3D will take off until it is used with holographic technology that has images raised up off the screen without glasses....

until then, 3D will be just a fad imo..
