I will be the bad guy here and warn those blind buying. I watched the film with the utmost respect for Peter Jackson and his crew. This film is beautiful but the subject matter is too serious to be played down as much as it was. I watched the entire movie only because Tucci is amazing, but I just completely lost all faith in it when [Show spoiler]Susan Surandon's character attempts to clean the parents house comically only seconds after thei daughter is raped and murdered..... I was sitting there in shock, and I am not easily offended, American Psycho is one of my favorite films

So I just wanted to give a heads up to people who are buying the film without having seen it. I am in no way attempting to offend those who like the film, different strokes for different folks.
Yep, that's one point I'm worried about in that the subject matter is hindered by the PG-13 rating. I haven't read the book, but I'm still willing to give it a shot based on the cast & Jackson and if anything I'll get some wonderful BD visuals, if the review here is correct.

Under the Amazon description, it says it has 1 disk. The box states there are 2 disks.
I won't be able to hit BB until this evening. Just wondering if anyone has theirs yet.

While I agree that she took away from the movie, it wasn't right after (was it?). I could have sworn it was a while afterwards. Anyways, definitely it took away from the theme of the movie and had no place in it.

Be that as it may, every other scene, IMO, was perfectly made. I will be purchasing this, possibly day one.

I was under the impression that it was almost right after, but if not then that leads to an impression that the film has poor pace. I felt that the tragedy wasn't given enough time for the audience to feel comfortable. I never read the book, but I just don't understand how you can mold what happens with comedic tones almost seemingly right after the event.

I think what divided people on the film so much is that they wanted it to either be hardcore reality and very grim, or to be closer to fantasy. But what they got was something completely different. I'm of the opinion that the film is a flawed masterpiece. There are some things I would have changed (Grandma cleaning the house for starters). But for me, the good far outweighed the bad and the film moved me a great deal emotionally.

When the mother was cleaning the house Susie had already been
[Show spoiler]murdered
for months and
even close to a year. Not right after they got the news.

Blind-bought it today. I'll give it a spin after Minority Report is finished.

she was there for a reason though, she was the cooky grandmother and she was very weird and thats why wahlberg's character brought her to the house, so she get try to get the mothers mind of the death of her daughter and he can still investigate without hurting his wife. her whole point was to be there to lift the spirits of the family and when it didnt work she really didnt do much after so i didnt mind it what so ever, i kinda went through a death and my aunt did the same thing so i know it happens.

Welll.... the disc didn't work in my player, couldn't get past the Paramount logo so I exchanged it at a different Best Buy location. 2nd try: same result. I suppose I finally need to update my firmware, but of course my computer's drive is on the fritz. Just burned a CD tho, but it isn't working in the player. I have a BDP-S350, but the flash drive plug is recessed & I don't have a skinny portable piece... damn!

watched this earlier. I thought it was good. For some reason though Pan's Labyrinth kept entering my mind. Don't know why.

If you order from them a lot, you should write an e-mail. No one from Amazon will ever admit that they price-match BB 95% of the time, but we know it and they know it. They just do it usually by finding out the prices and lowering theirs to match instead of the traditional way B&M store do it.

They want your business more than anything. I wrote them an e-mail today and politely told them I was disappointed they hadn't price-matched BB and that they had done so on all of my other orders (not literally but in the way I mentioned-by lowering the price at least by release day to the BB lower price if there was one), and maybe I needed to think about shopping elsewhere.

The response was a "one time" exception where they told me they'd adjust the price and I got the $19.99 and with my prime trial still going no shipping or taxes.

I look forward to seeing this, even more because of how people are so split. But I tend to love tearjerkers and loved "What Dreams May Come", so I'll probably like this too.

I had it pre-ordered already with Amazon but the price certainly did not drop below the 22.99, its already on its way but once I get it am returning it and buying it from BB (just to earn more Reward points) and all in all I'll be saving me almost two dollars right after tax.

Lately I've noticed Amazon is not price matching most stuff anymore.

Well, I have a 350 as well and I had the same problem. I've burned the image and just need to run the update. Glad it looks to be a firmware update and not a faulty disk, though. Returns are always a pain.

Rhylliam,

Just ran the latest firmware update for the Sony BDP S350 and the movie plays fine now. Good luck!

Well, I'll give Amazon another day or two, to match BB's price. If they don't, BB will get my money. I have a $5 RZ certificate to use. I was hoping to hold onto it, though, and just get the movie for $19.99 from Amazon. Only reason I'm bothered by the extra $1.50 is because I was given a $100 Amazon GC, and both of the blus I've bought with it so far were $19.99 a piece. Trying to keep all my purchases at $19.99 in order to swing 5 blus out of it.

Better get Battlefield Earth than this. Seriously. One of the worst films ever.
