Great start to the show! Easily better than The Event. The stunts were EXCELLENT! It's the procedural: perfected. I can't wait for next week.

On James Marsters:
[Show spoiler] He was shot, and fell in the water. He may or may not be dead.

Agree!

I liked it. It was trashy but entertaining. The cast already has chemistry. Laughed a few times and felt some suspense. I like Danno. There was a high body count, but in spite of that the overall feeling was pretty fun. Danno's ring tone from his ex-wife was amusing. Had to explain to my son who was up late doing homework.

And, I hadn't thought about that angle you mention. You could be right.

Loved the show! It rocked! Love the two main lead guys (like their manliness ), love Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park (Koreans represent! ). I feel like the shows got a perfect cast. Loved the the bit of girl power, the chemistry ,and the funny cheesy lines:

Bad dude: What kinda cops are you?
McGarret: The good kind!

LOL!

And Hawaii never looked so good on my HDTV!

It was ok, not quite as good as I hoped but thats mainly for the pacing. The Villians were never really fleshed out and that opening story should have gone on for at least another episode.

It was pretty good. I liked it better than the event. The opening story is not over as the main plot of that episode is finding who was responsible for his fathers death. Their was definitely more involved than just the two brothers one of which
[Show spoiler]may not be dead.

Out of the three shows I DVR'ed last night, this is the one I watched as it was the one that ran on Tuner 1, so I had no choice. (Recorded ""The Chase" on Tuner 2.)

Anyway, I loved it. Great show. Like many here, the original show was before my time, so I have no clue about any of the "mythos" from the old show, so this is all new for me. I kind of equate this show with a cross between "Dog the Bounty Hunter" and "Miami Vice". Just waiting for the episode where they stop by Da Kine Bail Bonds for a fugitive tip.

No really, I was impressed with all the gun play and stunts. As well as the perceived high production values. Explosions 'n' stuff. The opening scene was excellent.

I'll definately be watching this show faithfully. Mainly because of the on-going arc and the cool locale of Hawaii. Miami is cool and all, but it doesn't have any mountains.

Oh yeah WAY BETTER than The Event. I actually found myself chuckling quite a bit, Caan is just such a charismatic guy he definitely outsides O'Laughlin easily. I think I will definitely keep watching this if the show holds up as well as the pilot did. The scenes around Hawaii where beautiful, the whole group clicked instantly, everybody had chemistry, and as you mentioned the stunts where great.

Norman Reedus, James Marsters AND Wild Bill Sadler inside the first 60 seconds, are you kidding me!!!!

Spike was
[Show spoiler]wearing a vest, there was no blood and no body, he will be back!!!! First rule of tv or movies, no body means they always come back!

Can you translate that into English for those--like me--who don't understand ratings? How does this compare, for instance, to other shows like The Event?

I like H50, and I hope the good numbers for the first show gets CBS to pick it up for a full season.

Sure can.

13.83 million viewers and a 3.8 share which is what the networks look at.

It had nearly double the amount of viewers as The Event.

Most CBS shows average over 10 million viewers, if this holds out I would imagine 5-0 is going to be on the network for many years, those are huge numbers.

Was expecting to hate this, as most remakes are crap, but thought it turned out fairly awesome.

Never watched more than the occasional episode of the OG series, so I can't compre anything, but I think they nailed the casting for the main 4.

I'll be back for more!

It will be interesting to see if those numbers hold it was a good premiere but wonder if those are inflated by people who remembered the original and just were curious to see the new one.

The only minor issue I had with the show was the lead actor. It may just be me but he seems to come from the Nicholas Cage school of acting. Every time he spoke when I looked away from the TV I had to quick look back to make sure Cage wasn't making a cameo.
