I do not agree with all the picks they have made, but I do not doubt their ability to pick them. They are in the end a small organization with a very large reputation. I am just saying that there is no reason to hate on the academy for picking what they thought was the best. We can all have our opinions on what we thought should have won. I just have a problem when people complain about the Academy and disrespect them, overall I do not have a problem with this thread i just wanted to point out that the academy picks their favorites for different reasons that us, fans.

I thought the Hurt Locker deserved it, but in the spirit of this thread. If I was an academy voter I would have never picked:

Chicago, I never could get into this one.

Avatar was too derivative and the more often than not the CGI Navi were outacting the human characters. The movie was predictable because 80% of the script was scenes lifted from other movies.

Its nice that the Academy is willing to recognize that Bigelow is also a better director than Cameron. Comparing Near Dark to Aliens, Bigelow got a better performance out of the same cast as Cameron. Heck even McG got a more consistent performance out of Sam Worthington than Cameron did. At least in T4 Worthington didn't flipflop between an American and Australian accent.

Hurt Locker was more deserving of the honor than Avatar, but District 9 was a better movie than Hurt Locker.

I don't agree with 2007 either, and I am not a huge LOTR fan like everyone else seems to be (don't understand the need for 3 movies to destroy a ring) but other then those, it's tough to argue with your picks!

+1

Juno was a drama mis-marketed as a comedy. What humor there was in the movie felt very forced and out of place.

Yes, I like the performances in Brokeback Mountain better and the cinematography cannot compare.

Hey, it takes little people longer to walk over great distances. I kinda agree though for Return Of The King. It's just.....idk.....the last 45 min. bother me. The first one is much better.

Munich is great, but the term "dramatic license" is an understatement with that movie.
