Caveat Emptor.
You have no recourse. You made a bad decision, and now you have to live with the consequence.

They tried this on me two weeks ago when I was walking out of a Wal-Mart.

Guy ACTUALLY in a white van (you think they'd try to break the stereotype) comes up to me and goes, you want a speaker system?

"For my house or my car?"

"Your house."

"Tough break, because what I have is worth about as much as that van and everything and everyone in it."

"...Want a cookie?"

"Two chocolate chips."

From Wiki: The marks (victims) are usually affluent young men, college students, or others thought to have large amounts of disposable income.
I was approached by these guys in the Wal-mart parking lot - white CRV if memory serves. I didn't fall for it, but now maybe I should've tipped them for thinking I was an "affluent young man with large amounts of disposable income." I'm flattered. They obviously didn't see the POS car I pulled up in.... .

When I lived in Mass I had the White Van approach at a gas station offering me a "Super Discount" on a pair of speakers. I was 18 driving my bosses Mercedes so they must of thought I was the perfect target. I asked them if I could call me brother who works for the State Police to verify their receipt before buying, I never saw a Ford van accelerate so fast in my life.

I knew then it was a scam, oh and I do not have a brother.

This is one of the oldest scams around; I think Jesus was approached by 2 guys on camels offering him the best deal on a top of the line sun dial.

If the OP is sincere in this story then you got what you deserved by thinking you could make a fast buck on stolen property.

Let me get this straight. You would actually be willing to buy stuff you knew was stolen - and then resell it for a profit?

I was stupid enough and bought his advice along with the surround system. Him and his partner-in-crime even followed me to the nearest ATM. I took the money out and ACTUALLY paid those scammers. They scammed me at the right time because I was in the market for a surround system. Well, I got it! Its a cheap ass system worth $50 or so.

What should I do with it? I haven't opened it yet and I definitely want my money back. Why wasn't I aware of this scam?
That was me, thanks for the dough bro

I read all the posts in this thread. I know, I'm a greedy bastard who's also trying to make money. I admit I was stupid enough to fall for it. I've never been offered anything from any white van in my entire life. The scammer was driving a dark red SUV; not a white van. I just want my money back, thats all.

I should be put in the Blu-ray.com Hall of Shame.

Forgive them for what? The sold you and item for $350 that they purchased for $50. They gave you a sales pitch that you bought. Sounds like capitalism.

How about Blu-ray.com CONE of Shame!

Don't worry about it. It's life. Everyone makes mistakes. At least you didn't lose $1,000 but just a few hundred. You'll learn from it.

I was approached at a gas station by two guys(Home Theater Techs) in a van who said they had an install job cancelled and were told to sell the equipment. They told me it was worth $2500 retail, but they needed to "get rid of it" so they could go home. I feigned interest and they said they would give it to me for $200. I asked to see it, and as I walked around their van I snapped a picture of their licence plate(making sure they saw me) with my cellphone. Then quickly got a face shot of the guy doing the talking and informed him I would be flagging down a cop shortly. They quickly departed the parking lot. Later a cop told me as long as they are selling actual working equipment, they aren't breaking the law.

The OP is either a joke or he got what he deserved. Buying stolen products is illegal for a reason.
