I think I'm being scammed on Amazon... - Blu-ray Forum

So I've been using Amazon to sell off old SD-DVD versions of movies that I now own on Blu-ray. Among them was my collection of Harry Potter films.

One buyer purchased 2 of them. I distinctly recall packaging these up in 1 box and mailing them last week because I had to find packaging big enough to accommodate them both.

Now she's e-mailing me saying she only got 1. How this is possible, I have no idea. She claims the packaging was "undisturbed". She isn't irate or anything (yet), but I have a feeling where this is going.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Amazon reselling? Any advice? It seems to be more trouble than it's worth, given the very narrow profit margins (about $1.50 per movie).

I placed an order with Amazon for Big Fish and Superbad last week, and when my order arrived Tuesday Superbad was missing. They packed it in an odd box (kind of like columbia house's) and the ends weren't glued shut, but they were closed.

Granted, it's a different situation (since you shipped direct) but I'm thinking that the Post Office has lowered their hiring standards to include petty thiefs. It didn't route throught the Philly area, did it?

It's going to be yourr word against hers, but in the future I suggest you demand they pay for insurance. Covers both of you in case of loss.

Back before I swore off eBay, I got a shipment sent to me with a printed out picture of the product in the box. This showed the condition of the item and the fact that it was in the box. The seller emailed me the picture with the tracking #. Now there is nothing to say that he/she couldn't have then switched the item, or removed it before sending...

But if nothing else, a digital shot of the movies as you boxed them would help to refresh your memory of what you actually shipped.

In the end, insisting on insurance is probably the best way to go.
