I think the Image Quality is slightly better, more vivid and sharper than the first Edition of 2008.
Slightly but You can see it.
However - with more Extras that would be really a SE.
But the Steelbook is nice - well worth a purchase for Collectors.
And last but not least for Our German Fans: the "st" in the German Dub (around the 59 min) is still Missing .

Yeah.. the missing 'ST' allready mentioned in a german forum. The german CUT release seems to contain all the extra features AND the missing 'ST'!

I wish You luck .
Last supplement - the SE SB Version uses now the Video Codec MPEG4-AVC instead of VC-1 (the old BD from Studio Canal 2008) and the new One has no English Subs.
And the Picture Format is of Course not 2.35:1 (Misprint on the Paper, Aspect Ratio is 1.85:1).
Okay only 1 Extra (in HD 23 min, its about the Skeleton Scene in the Subway) but I have older Total Recall DVDs with enough Extras on it.
The new Version looks overall a bit fresher.

There is an error in the german audio dub. In one sentence the last bit of a word is missing. Due to some mastering error. The cutted German BD is stated to contain this missing 'st' of the word in the audio track, and its a shame that they didn't got it correct in the uncut release.

So all the uncut versions don't have the extras? Only in the German cut version are they there?

Is this a better transfer than the US version and is it region free?

The steelbook itself is without any foreign inscriptions. The foreign stuff is on an extra paper sheet which is glued to the back; underneath it, there is a nice artwork of Arnie:

The 2008 Studio Canal BD is Code A + B.
The 2010 Studio Canal BD is Code A + B + C.
The 2008er Studio Canal BD and the new BD are better than the US Version. Here is one Example: cinefacts de
And here You can compare the 2008 Studio Canal Edition with the US BD with Pictures:
US incl. Pics blurayreviews.ch US
Studio Canal 2008 BD Code AB incl. Pics blurayreviews.ch Studio Canal EU (for Example the German BD)
The new Transfer from Studio Canal is overall a little bit fresher but You can still choose also the 2008 BD - cheap available @ amazon uk.

Thanks a lot man! Glad I never bothered with the US release. So, I guess now it boils down to the cut version with extras or uncut with no extras. Are the cut scenes significant? What do you think?

Personally I would go for the uncut with no extras. Extras are great, but not at the sacrifice of parts of the movie missing. Not sure what the cut scenes are, but every scene in Total Recall matters cause it

You´re Welcome.
Hm the Cuts in the FSK 16 Version are Significant (mainly Violence) - because of that the Best Movie Line "Consider that a Divorce" and "see You at the Party Richter" is missing.
Please take a look here Cut FSK 16 Version vs Uncut

Thanks again my friend!

So, I'm definitely leaning towards the uncut version. But are the extras the same on both versions or is true that the cut version has the original extras all there? I'm so confused.

My pleasure.
The Uncut Version has only 1 Extra and and it looks like the German Cut Version German FSK 16 Cut Steelbook has much more Extras Yes - maybe exclusiv (German Cut BD out on 17.6.10 Sorry only in German but there You can see the whole Extras Kinowelt de).
"Extras
Audiokommentar mit Arnold Schwarzenegger und Paul Verhoeven, Audiokommentar mit Kameramann Jost Vacano, Das Erschaffen von Total Recall, Konzeptzeichnungen, Making of, Rund um die Science-Fiction-Literatur, Spezialeffekte in Total Recall, Storyboards, Vision vom Mars, Werkfotos, Models & Skeletons: The Special Effects of Total Recall, Trailer".

Yep - Extras always fine but the Cuts are intolerable in Total Recall.
