My wife thinks I am nuts too. I just tell her that I am not nuts, but in tune.

I received a call today as well. It was in response to an email I sent weeks ago. I figured they were not responding to emails and called them myself yesterday.

After reading a few stories from some of the people here who were able to exchange their old copies for the new remastered ones, I ended up going to Walmart with no receipt, found the last copy of Gladiator they had which happened to be the remaster, went to customer's service, waited for a few minutes, and walah! Free copy of the remaster without having to wait for weeks. Thanks alot guys!

Btw I wove a small tale of deceit saying that one of the disks was defective. It's funny cuz when I told the guy who asked if I had a return he was all like "Yeah I know what you mean". Good times!

Unless you bought the original version of Gladiator at Wal-Mart you and several others in this and the other Gladiator thread need a good head smashing. Stealing is stealing whether it's an MP3, an optical disc, or a stick of gum.

I'm sure there are worse things going on than this.

Its not stealing, Wal Mart, Best Buy, Target, or whoever you took it to and exchanged it for a new copy will return it back to the distributor as a defective product and get credit for it...

I'll be mailing mine out, just got the call today from that e-mail we all sent out, bought from Amazon, BUT Paramount should have just set up the exchange program to be done at retailers, so we can do an instant swap, instead of this mailing out + waiting for weeks crap. I'd think they'd save a bit of money on shipping too, as they can ship in bulk to and from retailers. Exchange programs like this are silly and I don't know how the (non-blu-ray.com member) general consumer will ever get the news - I've never heard of it outside these forums.

Tell her she's right and that we know about it. Then remind her that it's better than being hooked on drugs or alcohol and give her your blu ray wish lists for Black Friday and Christmas. Do it now

I just got the call as well. Have to send it to Deluxe at a P.O. Box in Valencia CA. They say that once they receive it then they will send out replacement. S it may be a few weeks before I actually get the replacement. Be sure to include a slip with your name, address and phone number in your package so they know where to send the disc.

I received the call today also, pertaining to my e-mail. Unfortunately i had already sent it in on July 30th. My inference to this call is that the exchange program is finally up and running. This means that they will begin shipping the exchanged copies. Granted, I have know evidence of this, as I said it was purely inference. I would hope to receive within in the next couple of weeks. Just by the weight of the message boards here, i feel they have a lot of work to do.

I just got my call. She asked me whether I had verified that it was an old copy. I told her I'd already done that and mailed last Sat. after which she said that they'll be shipping out the new discs a few weeks after recieving the old one.
WTF does that mean???
It sounds like it'll be awhile before I see this blu.

Today at Best Buy I told an employee there was a recall for the original Gladiator on blu-ray but he wasn't sure what I was talking about. So I followed him to his supervisor and I had explain the whole situation again to his supervisor. Again, the supervisor didn't know what I was talking about. The supervisor told me he wanted to see some proof such as a printed out webpage that the exchange exists. Where can I find enough evidence to convince them? Printing out pages from these forums won't cut it.

Also, I asked Walmart about the Gladiator defect and they gave me the cold shoulder.

Oh my bad! Its a secret exchange program for blu-ray.com members and everyone else is excluded. Does that make more sense?

I don't know if I totally agree Goof as these big stores all get credit plus any other expenses incurred during the exchange, it is provided by their respective distributors, distributors get theirs too. I did however purchase my copy at the same store I took it back too, their sticker was still on the wrap, yulp, I never even opened it, but thats another thread

No . . . but it has been recalled either. It's a totally optional exchange program and Best Buy really doesn't have to do anything except for sell the product they're shipped. As far as they're concerned, it's no different than a double-dipped version of Gladiator, in that it's just another sku for the same movie.

I laughed out loud at the head smashing comment, regarding exchanging these in a store. Either way, the discs are going to be destroyed/recycled, so it makes no difference.

I have created it because the dedicated thread was getting a wee bit cluttered.

Here are the address's of the two exchange centre's

UK:

Universal Pictures (UK) Ltd
'Gladiator Exchange'
Prospect House
80-110 New Oxford Street
London
WC1A 1HB

US and Canada:

PHE Mkt c/o Deluxe Media Management
P.O. Box 801464
Valencia, CA 91380-1464

Telephone number of Paramount: 888-889-9456 (Thanks to Westonian)

The operator will only want to confirm that you have the old disc, using the number on the inner ring of the disc (data side) so it's not entirely necessary.

I would take disc one and make a note of the number in the inner ring data side ( you would have to hold it in the light at a certain angle) it should be NA*****B1 or something like that. Then put the disc in a plastic sleeve or something to protect it and then put the disc in an envelope with a letter explaining that you want your disc replaced with the remastered version. Also put your name, address, telephone number and the disc number just to be safe, although I'm sure they'll see it when they look at the disc.

Hopefully this helps.

I'm from the UK and have taken a chance on shipping my import Sapphire series disk back to the US.

I wonder if I'll get it back?

Just a mere suggestion, but maybe consider making this thread a 'poll' for those who have successfully exchanged their copy in any retail store, and those sorry-@$$es (like me) that are impatiently waiting for their replacement from Paramount (like I am).

Also, thanks for posting this concise info. I sent my disc back Aug 2nd, but I'm sure your initial post has helped several. BTW, I haven't received a phone call either--wish I would've just swapped mine out in a store.
