who knows how many were made, but they were very scarce.
I have a few copies still sealed, complete with slip cover.

After reading more of the thread, I also have Dracula with slip, Blade Runner briefcase and had the Inception briefcase (Flipped for a Panamax M5100). I have a few sealed Akira DVD tins as well.

Did the Criterion BD of "Man who fell to earth" ever come with a plastic case from the factory, or were all of these sold in the digipack (cardboard) version only?

For anyone looking for Zodiac without having to buy it from online check out your local Blockbuster, they removed several catalog titles and put them up for sale and this is one of them, looks brand new. Every one of the Blockbuster stores in my area did it. By the way it's $12.

Metallica - Fan Can 6: Copenhagen

This is a Metallica Fan Club exclusive limited to 7,500 units. But, not all 7,500 were Blu-ray. When you ordered Fan Can 6 (which you had to win a reservation contest) you had your choice of either format.

This Blu-ray is exclusive to the Metallica Fan Club, and was only available in the Fan Can that was just released. Once they are gone... they are gone. So I'd venture to say it's pretty rare.

Digi, although Criterion was selling the plastic case separately. Don't know if they still are.

Thanks for the heads up. I emailed them to see if I can replace those damn cases. Are Night of the Hunter and Seven Samurai considered digipacks?

Also, I saw Zodiac listed on here. Today I bought one off Amazon for $23, which was the price in 'also avaiable new from' section which was fulfilled by amazon. Now it's $28.99 which is the lowest fulfilled by amazon price in that section. There are only three left fulfilled by amazon (2 new/1 used)... so if that is the only remaining stock, it may be best to snag those now...
I'm not stating this all for fact, but it's how it seems to me.

I've seen Zodiac at several Blockbusters. Most of them are at 9.99 now. I always feel like I should pick them up to offer to people here that are having trouble finding them.

I paid $30 for Zodiac via eBay. I was bummed about spending so much on a catalog with no snazzy packaging, but after seeing the job done on this transfer & watching the loaded hi def special features....worth every penny.

Also, I had no idea Akira is considered rare. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Found it at a buy/sell video game store for $12. Superb PQ/AQ.

only the first press version--which came in a special slipbox-- is rare.

I believe the Chinese Ironpacks of William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet and of Moulin Rouge are extremely rare. It's been rumoured there are only 250 of each that were made and sold...but I find this hard to believe. Perhaps 2500 of each...

I'm lucky enough to have a copy of Criterion's The Third Man that I bought on eBay for $50 about 2 months ago.

Also the limited edition tin of the Back To The Future trilogy sold in the UK seems to command ridiculous prices since it sold out in the shops...£100 or more...up to £250+ on amazon.co.uk marketplace!!!

Check your local FYEs if you need Watchmen. I saw it at one a few weeks back. They tend to not sell larger sets like that due to the price remaining at a high MSRP.

Can they still be found in store? I am not from the US so I do not know . Wasn't it limited to 50,000?

I believe the silver (mark II) mask was DVD only but after their initial runs the Tarjay exclusives are super rare.

No. Replacement plastic cases are not available for any Criterion releases with cardboard except for nine of the original releases.

I'm pretty sure I've still seen Dear John, Gran Torino and possibly Goodfellas. Saw III I've never seen in stores, I still look even though I have it. The other two I've never seen but never looked for them
