Yeah, I can't say I'm a Rush fan, myself, though I like "Tom Sawyer" well enough. Perhaps the clarity and immersion of the lossless audio will make me a fan, though...If this was a different Rush album, I probably wouldn't buy it, but since it has at least one song on it I like, I have no problem buying it to show support for the Blu-ray Album format.

Yep, I'm not a fan either. Actually I have never listened to Rush before but will purchase to support the format!

Default "Vital Signs" is previously unreleased?

I clearly recall a video for "Vital Signs" on the VHS tape THROUGH THE CAMERA EYE. I guess this is a different version of the video perhaps?

Ordered mine as well.

It's quite possible you've heard them (if you listen to rock radio at all) and just not known it was them. As a teen, I was given a cassette of 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason' By Pink Floyd. I had heard the name but didn't know any of their songs.

I liked 'Momentary', and bought another one of their albums (on cassette), and I thought 'HOLY CRAP! I know this stuff! This is Pink Floyd???'.

Couldn't believe I was a Floyd fan and didn't even know I was...

Now, I suppose that if you were say - just a country fan, or a jazz/classical fan, you could miss them, but you may be surprised... Hope you enjoy!

Some people can't get past Geddy's voice - it's unique in the rock world (maybe I like it because it's one I can mimic pretty well ) But as Rock trios go, there are few that are as powerful. It's just three guys, no back up players, yet a very full complex sound.

Cheers,

Doc

Count me as one of the people that can't get past Getty's voice...but I do really appreciate the musicianship and there are a couple tracks I like, particularly Tom Sawyer...so along with supporting the Blu-ray format for music releases I will definitely give this an honest shot to see if my appreciation opens up a bit.

Jeez, I know I'm Canadian by diffusion, but I thought you guys were born with a copy of Fly By Night in-hand? No?

I think some of his better 'modern' vocal sound (not as much falsetto) was on Counterparts and Roll the Bones. Funny that I prefer his falsetto to his actual speaking voice (Just Kidding, Gary )

I suspect a lot of you who don't know much Rush or are on the edge whether you like them or not, will be fans after listening to Moving Pictures a few times I've had multiple friends who thought they could never like them (because of Geddy's voice mainly), end up becoming hardcore fans when they really gave them a chance.

Me:
Family from Glasgow, Scotland couple generations
Born - Sussex, England 1973
Moved - Cayman Islands 1980~1993 (schooling in UK 1985~1990)
Moved - Ontario, Canada 1993~present

I proudly got my Canadian citizenship in 1995, after "landing" in 1991 but heading back to Cayman for 2 more years. Having already been 19 when I moved here there are definitely plenty of non-CAN cultural influences in my life.

However in copying your post I typed "Getty" when I should have typed "Geddy" - I'm enough of a music fan to appreciate what Rush bring to the table and thus spotted my own spelling mistake when re-reading it, lol.

I'm a pianist/guitarist, but I do love great percussion and so I'm really looking forward to listening through this Blu-ray to hear Peart's drumming in 5.1!

Original mistake was mine

As for Neil's drums... 5.1? Holy schnikes! Hopefully make you feel you're sitting right at the kit, so you can work on your air drumming technique!

Can't wait to hear it in lossless audio. Should be thrilling. I left a thread in the feedback forum for the disc though. The Canadian Amazon.ca link through the site is broken. I hope it's a quick fix for the admin's.

*edit* It was a quick fix. The Canadian amazon.ca link is fixed.

The ASIN on the amazon.ca link is actually the same as the DVD+CD version one from amazon.com so I don't think it's really the Blu-ray+CD version.

Yeah I think it's linked to the wrong one.
The CD+Blu-ray is no longer listed on the Canadian website.
Both the DVD-A and BD versions were there two days ago.

Looks like the DVD will be a DVD-Audio release, but the Blu-ray will be the option for me.
Ugh so now they decide to support DVD-A (IF this turns out to be true). There's no reason that S&A shouldn't have had lossless surround instead of that "MVI" Dolby Digital nonsense. Only thing I can figure is that as of 2004 Warner Music Group was no longer part of the (800-lb. gorilla DVD Forum member) Time Warner/Warner Bros. (the movie studio) so licensing fees on a 2007 release would make a true DVD-A with lossless MLP surround more expensive than the DVD-V-by-another-name that is "MVI."

Can't wait to hear that "snotty" bass and the plywood cracks and various other percussion accents of "YYZ" in lossless at reference level. F*ck the neighbors.

Nice!

I am a drummer that's into fusion and progressive jazz and rock, and cut my teeth on Neil Peart's drumming, so I am all over this!

The holy trilogy of blu-ray for me is:

Rush: Moving Pictures
Star Wars: The Complete Saga
The Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions

and I should(hopefully) have them all this year!

Does that make me an uber-nerd?
