BB had Salt in a BD-sized steelbook, so I don't know why they consistently produce the oversized cases. I'll pass.

probably studio decision. Salt = Sony. Recent G1 = Universal and Warner Bros.

Hopefully first week price for it is $10 or so lower than what it is now online.

Also, has this been 100% confirmed to be a Steelbook or will we find out when the ad leaks?

G1= NO SALE......and flipper discs

Hell, my local Best Buy still have G1 steelbook copies of that god awful Twilight movie...New Moon I think.

And.....Yes....I have the Best Buy exclusive Salt Steelbook and it is G2....so I guess it depends on the studio

No it hasn't, but everything I posted earlier strongly suggests it will be.

I'm getting this too, already preordered it off Best Buy's site. If it ends up being flipper discs, I'll just wait for the basic set to hit a low price and maybe buy it and swap the discs.

I'm counting on a price drop to seal the deal. The G1-sized case doesn't bother me (not if it's the same size as The Pacific or Band of Brothers), but if it's not in the same price range as Target (i.e. around $50), I'll just get the standard release at Target.

How will we be able to tell if they're flippers from the packaging alone? Especially from a small pic in the BB ad? Will it specifically say BD on one side/DVD on the other?

it'll probly say something like "BLU-RAY + DVD ON ONE DISC" in huge letters which is typical of Universal.
