The word 'hyberbole' reminds me of the Rollerball for some odd reason, maybe in the future it will be some kind of 'to the death sport' were contestants exaggerate about their physical prowess.

It's often stated as the benchmark but The Terminator ain't ever going to look like Avatar it should be gritty and grainy the way it was filmed. They probably spent more on lattes for the Avatar cast and crew than they did on The Terminator's entire budget....

Interesting point, I'd like to see exactly where the budget for Hollywood movies go to. I mean why do you need more exec producers than the entire cast? One is all that is needed. Too many cooks...

I think someone wrote a book on it, he's buried next to his calculator and Jimmy Hoffa....

There is German Terminator 3 Steelbook .

Though I do hope they will release a Steelbook of 1, then I at least have 1-3 in Steelbook (bought Salvation before I knew what Steelbooks were ).

Really looking forward to this. It's been a loooonng wait, but finally I can complete my Terminator blu-ray collection

As for the picture quality, I can't say that I'm too concerned. People on here were complaining about the various Terminator 2 releases (I have the UK Skynet Edition), and it looks superb to my eyes. Way better than my old dvd.

Not too bothered about extras as I've found that I very rarely end up watching any of them because it spoils my enjoyment of the film next time I watch it. Kind of takes me out of the moment when I start thinking "oh yeah, I know how they filmed this bit"...

Anyway... I feel a Terminator marathon coming in May next year!

Hope this isn't the same as the shoddy US release. Give us a decent transfer and a box that isn't recyclable this time!

T2 UK Skynet does look fantastic and I can't understand the dislike for the Skynet edition. Sure, it has DNR but not too much I don't think. The UK Sony version of T3 has a good transfer too. Apparently its much better than the WB release.

I thought they had the same transfer but that the US release only had lossy audio whereas the UK release has HD audio.

...you've never even heard it, have you.

The problem with the 5.1 track isn't the mix itself, but the idiot in charge of it saw it fit to replace sound effects with T2 ones!

Hi,

I have the Japanese Premium Edition Version 2.0 Steelbook of T2 and can attest to it being the BEST version currently available on BLU!!

Cheers,

John

The person who thought it would be a good idea to change the sound effects on The Terminator.

Loads of stuff is messed up in the new mix, pistols which sound like they have silencers. Shotgun in the police station shootout which sounds like an assault rifle. I grew up with the mono and it seriously sounds more gritty, raw and just suits the film better.

I'd be interested if it came with the original mono track. The new mix is terrible!

You could have a film with a transfer like Band of Brothers, which has a bit of DNR but it's mild and IMO doesn't ruin the picture quality, or a transfer like Predator UHE, which we all know heavily abused the picture with DNR. For most people, it doesn't seem to matter how much is used. Any use of DNR at all is considered unacceptable.

I don't mind the transfer which is great.

It's trying to get the bloody disc to work in the first place. It just sits there trying to load as if the internet connection that's there isn't there.

I'm not the only one. Threads all over the place here and elsewhere.

Fortunately I found a workaround.
