I can't tell you why I feel this way about this particular movie, but I would welcome a new multichannel mix of the movie. If the original stems are still available and in okay shape and if the soundtrack music was recorded multitrack, which it probably was, it actually would be pretty easy to do.

Maybe I feel this way because if the movie had been released two years later, it would have been released in 70mm 6-track Dolby mag.

And as it turns out, at least according to some sources, there were some 4-track mag prints of Jaws. IIRC, Carr & Hayes (which does get a lot wrong) claims that Jaws was released in stereo, although IMDB claims only mono.

But of course I would most like to see a version released with both the original mono (if indeed there were no stereo prints) and the multichannel.

Of course, even if released in mono, we're not really hearing it the way theatre audiences heard it because an optical soundtrack had a very limited frequency response. And if they still have the mono mag master, we'll be hearing a much wider frequency response.

Given how badly they screwed up the new mix on the first DVD release, I wouldn't wish too hard for that.

But, as long as the original mono is included, they can go to town if they want... don't care what else they do.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes times 5. Easily a must-buy for me, I love the original Jaws, Spielberg at his finest.

Soo it also mentions Jaws 3D is being released on bluray at the same time i wonder if that means we will be getting a bluray 3d release or anaglyph 3D

You obviously missed the point of his comment, its a BTTF II Jaws 19 reference .

They need to pay tribute to captain Jakes amity boat tours on either the Jaws or Jaws 3D disc.

Had a blast working on that ride for 10 years, cant believe they are shutting it down in less than a month to expand an attraction that isnt even from a universal studios movie.

That's a good idea. It should be a special feature on the blu.

I can't believe they are doing that. So dumb, I'd rather ride Jaws which is a movie icon then whatever they have planned.

I don't know about anything from the 1st post's SITE (Link) that looks even Remotely like "Official" News

Looks more like a FAN Site to me

I'm with the few who've bothered to Not just go all about this Rumored "news".

Until I see the OFFICIAL RELEASE on This site or something Reputable, I'm not buying this quite yet.

Damn, I didn't know they were shutting it down. Might as well tear down the Bates Motel while they're at it!

So if they're closing it down, it's going to make way for the Transformers BS then. The tour guide mentioned the new attraction after we went through the King Kong 3D tunnel, but she didn't say anything about Jaws getting closed down. God I hate Michael Bay.

I was at Universal Studios a couple of weeks ago. My daughters got to see the backlot tour (and Jaws) for the very first time. I was telling them how the original shark they had there looked even faker than the movie shark with it's hinged mouth and half-body. I'm glad they got to see it.

That right there makes me want to take my son before it get's scrapped.

And I agree why not turn down the Bate's Hotel while they're are it. Might as will since they are killing everything.

Well...it's getting replaced by....
[Show spoiler]Harry Potter
sigh...

I wonder if there's a chance "The Shark is Still Working" will appear as a special feature.

How come they're not planning to release it on the July 4th weekend...?

Yep, an earlier date makes a lot more sense for this. If it's released in August I'd get twitchy but I could hold off a while in the hopes of a price drop.

If it's available in July though? There's simply no way I could not buy it.

Oh, I can tell you exactly why I'd be more inclined to be a little less of a purist about a (restrained) remix - the soundtrack. Soundtracks are a key part of just about any film but in this particular case the soundtrack is practically a character.

And yes, the lossless original mix (one channel or not) should definitely be included.

I hope they re-release all the sequels on blu ray too. Sorry! As much as people hate JTR I'd like to see the original ending (that AMC shows) on blu ray.

I'm still confused as to why this has its own thread when the information that it originated from has been moved to the Wish List forum. ???

It might be a (very) mediocre film, but I would personally be all over a 'Jaws 3-D' release - if it's true 3D and not that anaglyphic #*%€ they issued 'Friday the 13th 3-D' in.

I'll eat a bucket of chum if they go to the expense of converting JAWS 3-D.
It costs hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Converting to what? AFAIK it wasn't released in anaglyphic 3-D in the theaters, but in polarized.
