This says A WHOLE LOT about Will Ferrell's career.

If it wasn't for the main character the original film would have been amazing for me as the supporting cast was phenomenal.

Glad someone said what many have been thinking.

Love the first movie, but after that recent BOMB that was his latest attempt to resurrect a somewhat flailing career, file this under NO SURPRISE announcement.

Next year's Announcement: "OLD SCHOOL 2"

I imagine this will get overhyped and will be ultimately disappointing.

Now come on, to be fair, he and the others have been trying to do it for years but Paramount kept saying no. This is great news, regardless of his career or not. Ron Burgandy, in my opinion, is his best character, and I'm glad he's finally revisiting him. So many of us have been wanting it to happen, that it's good to see he and Paramount finally made the decision so we could all get a sequel.

I'm truly surprised how Paramount kept saying no when the cast's stock was increasing in Hollywood and all of them wanted to return.

Come on man...Will Ferrell was pretty damn funny in Anchorman, you have to admit. I don't think I'm alone on this one either.

Fine, fair enough. But, am I wrong in that this type of thing happens time & time again to Actors who haven't had a "hit" in quite some time, & then a Studio green lights a new film (sequel) from their Glory Days
[Show spoiler](or is that "Daze" )
, for the (usually) sole reason of trying to capitalize on Past Success, HOPING (obviously) to make a killing at the box office?

There was a time, a time before cable. When the local anchorman reigned supreme. When people believed everything they heard on TV. This was an age when only men were allowed to read the news. And in San Diego, one anchorman was more man then the rest. His name was Ron Burgundy. He was like a god walking amongst mere mortals. He had a voice that could make a wolverine purr and suits so fine they made Sinatra look like a hobo. In other words, Ron Burgundy was the balls.

Will Ferrell isn't funny in anything he has done since he was a regular cast member of SNL. He just doesn't work on the big screen for me. His only success for me when it comes to film is Stranger Than Fiction. Everything else is mentally-challenged, overacted, baby-man-child humour that is not funny unless a young child is the one doing it.

Like I said, the supporting cast (oh... and Christina Applegate helped too) kept me interested enough to watch until the end. Will Ferrel just kept spurning the urge to hit the eject button without even stopping the disc first.

Have to agree with this one. I don't think there are many films that fully utilized Ferrell's comedic abilities to their fullest since Anchorman. He is a genuinely funny guy, but the scripts try way too hard. Watch that Conan clip from last night and you can see the genious. They need to let Ferrell be Ferrell - that is when he is successful.

Stranger Than Fiction is an amazingly great film. But I did enjoy Anchorman and Old School for what they are.

My biggest fear is the plot. What are they going to do that they haven't already done? If its yet another news anchor trying to take his thunder (I hear Chris Rock is available), its going to be a boring film. What about the shift of news from TV to the Internet? But then again, that takes us out of that era that made Anchorman so hilarious. I don't know.

Why the hate for Will Ferrell? I certainly think his humor is somewhat juvenile, but it isn't like Jackass or even South Park (which actually has depth in their humor as well).

I just dont get this movie. I have never been able to make it through it. So for me, ehh.

I guess I need to watch it with a bunch of friends or make it quotable where we are pulling from it all the time, like we have done with Hangover and others.

I agree. We have a saying in my country - the coyote of the desert likes to eat the heart of the young and the blood drips down to his children for breakfast, lunch and dinner and only the ribs will be broken
