Have yet to have a scratched disc with the FOX books of Star Wars or Alien. But I admit I am very carefull with taking my discs out of the packaging. Bought both sets day one and still the cases and discs look mint. FOX seems to use very sleek paper stock and it seems to me unless some type of dirt gets in there that is the only way I can see scratched happening. I think Alien sets looks the best however.

But I understand that they do recieve a lot of complaints so I'm the minority.

Just listed in UK for October 1st release!

Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection Blu-ray

Same 14 Universal movies are included in collection.

So,as i already stated, this Blu-ray box set is basically mirroring Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection DVD set released by Uni 5-6 years ago.

They did not list Saboteur and Shadow of a Doubt (there's a small pic of the poster), which I would assume are included as they were part of the masterpiece collection.

I'm guessing a U.S. announcement is coming soon.

Also, I've never had any issues / scratches removing anything from my Alien, Star Wars or Kubrick sets. There will likely be a smaller, non-limited edition some time, as well. Maybe that will please the haters of slip sleeves.

Yeah. I LOATHE that packaging on DVDs because yes, that does mean scratches most of the time... but after buying Deadwood, the Alien Anthology, and the Star Wars Saga all on Blu, I have had ZERO scratches. Love that heavy duty coating!

Did they forget Saboteur and Shadow of a Doubt? I doubt they would not include them because they are older 1:37 b&w films. Anyway, i'll be getting one of these sets..U.S., German, U.K. Whichever has the best deal and titles.

These are blu rays, not DVDs. I think the problem here will be ruining the beautiful book, or pages of the book by taking the discs in and out. Blu ray discs will not get scratched by cardboard, people need to stop with these ridiculous allegations.

Looking at the promotional photo of the box set, it appears to use the same system as the Deadwood box set. And for that, all you need to do is find a thin piece of cardboard and use it to take the discs out. Just insert it between the disc and cardboard page and you won't have any problems with either taking out the discs, damaging the cardboard page or scratching the discs, if that's what you're afraid of. It used to take me forever to take out the discs out of my Deadwood box set with fingers without doing any damage, but after I started with the cardboard piece method, I can take the discs out in no time without any damage.

The description says 14 discs - does that mean they're dropping the bonus disc? Perhaps its SD features will be distributed among the Blu-rays.

Well..the few features like the AFI clip could easily fit somewhere else. Other making of stuff on each film's disc.

Compare so far (likely both region free):

U.K. - 14 films at $10.89 each including shipping to the U.S. Not bad. Let's see if we get an announcement soon for the U.S. version.

German - 14 films at $12.40 each including shipping - BUT if NBNW & 39 Steps are included then $10.85 each.

The leaked Universal schedule, which has been 100% correct so far, listed a 9/4 US release date for the Hitchcock box.

I'm keeping my German pre-order until we get more information about that one.

The UK release packaging shot has removed the references to The 39 Steps and North by Northwest that are on the German one, which makes it even more strange.

It's been accurate, but not 100%
