Really?

Killing in films is nothing. Murderers are more accepted than sex offenders, lol.

Maybe, but neither is really acceptable in the first place, that's the point. Why is one fine and the other not. Considering I wouldn't want my kid shooting up a place when he grew up over having sex with a woman when he grew up.

I also don't want him to become a Xenomorph and kill everyone on a space ship but we still watched ALIEN!

I don't see how that's relevant to anything revolving around sex in films.

It's really not that hard to understand.

Yes, obviously, you would rather your child grow up and have sex with someone, than murder them. That's a given.

The point is, a lot of parents would rather their children do neither, at least until marriage (and then, yes, have sex, but not murder their spouse!).

But watching a violent film will have no effect on the child, they will not go out and be an axe murderer, or "kill everyone on a spaceship" or strangle their sister, or whatever. It's just that.

Watching a sexually charged film is liable to make a child horny, and go out and have sex, or at least perform an undesirable sexual behaviour (form the parents point of view). Is it really that hard to understand that watching a porn (or even a sex comedy or something) is more likely to make someone horny/in the mood for infidelity than watching a slasher will make the kid want to kill someone?

It's not that complicated. I'm not sure why people always bring this up, 1 second of thought will provide you the above explanation.

~

Now, I am not saying I agree or disagree with what people think. I am simply explaining the thought process of why "sex is not allowed in American cinema but violence is." People act like it is some mystical, arbitrary decision. Well, I have outlined the reasons why it is like that above, and it's not that confusing. It's pretty obvious, actually.

Again, not that I agree or disagree with that logic, but it's pretty clear what the logic is.

I understand being worried about the level of sex in a film (like if strong nudity is involved) the same way someone would be worried about the level of violence, but it's just that fact of this:

I'm more comfortable with him seeing killing than sex lol.
Shouldn't they at least be looked at in the same standards?

The point is the effect any film has on a child, right?

Kevin Holly got it right.

Another friend's theater sold out three tonight. I think it's opening to high 20's, might even get to low 30's.

Saw the 10pm premiere and I really enjoyed it. Ethan Hawke was amazing and really shines in both acting and in the action scenes. A lot of cheers were done by my audience and I. Some things were predictable and the kids were really dumb but this movie was a really good watch in my opinion.
