Q would be great. Say the TNG Q comes through time because he's wondering why Spock Prime went missing?

He lives outside the universe and can see all things that happen with in it, be they past, present or alternative.

He wouldn't be wondering anything. Nor would he care. Be great to see him pop in at least for humours sake though...

Now if they do start filming next year that doesn't necessarily mean it will get released in 2015 as it doesn't say what month it would begin shooting. It would likely take several months to complete once they start filming then you throw in another 2 or 3 months or more of CGI/special effects work, scoring & other post production work.

So its possible it might get a late 2015 release or more than likely they wait until May/June 2016.
It has to be 2016. Why miss out on the anniversary by one year? Doesn't make sense.

It's like if we got Godzilla this year. Yeah, it'd be great to see it sooner, but you'd have to wonder; "Why not wait?"

Star Trek: Mudd's Revenge

Hell bent on capturing his ship back, and exacting revenge on Captain Kirk, Harold Mudd enlists the help of the Klingon army to form a strike force on the Federation, and test the crew of the Enterprise in ways they have never encountered before!

I would love it if Abrams came back for the third, I was never a fan of ST but I LOVED both his movies movies. If he doesn't return to direct I'd like to see either Brad Bird or Rian Johnson direct it. Whatever happens, I really hope the movie will be as amazing as the firs two, if it does live up to them then it will definitely be one of my favourite trilogies of all time.

J.J. Abrams' movies strike me as Star Trek films for people who don't like Star Trek.

A not entirely-fair generalization, but it's pretty accurate, in my opinion.

Wrong. I love all the Star Trek movies and TV series, and I think the new JJ series is fantastic.

I intimated this was not the case for everyone but I guess that was too subtle.

I think yes, though the comic insinuates that the ship belongs to Mudd's daughter!. that could be an interesting villain :P

I would like the klingons to steal the enterprise and paint it green and purple and use that as the Klingons flagship..that would send a good message.

I think this movie does a better job of getting people into Trek than the TNG movies ever did.

Same here, except the loving the second film. Haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure I will love it. I did watch a few episodes from different seasons here and there growing up when there was nothing else on TV over the weekend. But they never fully grabbed my attention. Then after watching the first Abrams Trek in 2009 I got my cousin who is a huge Star Trek fan to show me what were considered the best episodes from every season, my reaction was the same as it was when I watched it on TV.

Judging by the box office, I'd say you're right.

I welcome a non-Abrams Star Trek and I liked the first two films. Abrams clearly has no desire to step on any toes with this property. Probably one of the main reasons Disney is giving him the reins to Star Wars.
