I recently had someone over for a movie, and whilst browsing...they deemed it necessary to pull some of them halfway out of the shelf, and pushing them back in, in a rather nonchalant fashion. When i made a comment about wanting the slipcovers to remain in good shape - this person chuckled at me, and told me i should be less anal about it, for they are "just movies". Needless to say, this person ended up not watching a movie, for she was asked to leave, and won't be coming around again.

If you can't respect a person's need to keep their things in good shape, at least respect the fact that some people care about things in a way you'll never understand.

Short answer. Yes. I do not lend out my steelbooks, except maybe to my brother.

Get an empty Blu-ray case, and just give him the disc. I would never let anyone walk out of my house with an actual Steelbook

Yep. When you stop worrying it isn't as noticeable or frequent.

Some people here would weep at the way I have some of my stuff organized. I have movies in four different rooms, the bulk of which is in my living room. I also have some movies in a guest bedroom that are watched frequently by relatives. There's maybe 200-300 in my bedroom under my TV and there's at least the same amount in my office cabinet. I know where everything is, but its far from the nature of the way everyone has their stuff broken up into sections and stacked. I like my movies, I just don't mind them being...everywhere. In my bedroom alone I have around 40 steelbooks sitting on a nightstand.

I get that some people treat their collections very carefully, but meh. I have standees that hold films, I display them with figures...but it doesn't annoy me for people to touch things. Man, it used to though but I got a speech about it from my mother (not just touching movies, but other things) and after that I did realize how lame I was being. It's just...stuff.

I used to have pretty bad OCD so part of the process of getting over it was to stop worrying about minor things. I didn't realize how long I spent on useless things until I stopped. OMG there's a tiny scratch on my furniture, my mouse has a little wear marks, my slipcover has a tear, blah.

I have my collection in my bedroom...saves me the trouble of turning down requests for "loans"...after losing hundreds of DVDs and CDs that were never returned, I vowed to not let it happen with my Blus.
