I think it's true for a lot of things, in music, and movies and TV. Look seem to be the first thing, not the talent. If there is talent all well and good but look is the everything.

Oh Please. We all know Radiohead got to be so huge because of Thom Yorke's dashing good looks.

It has been no better/no worse since the advent of TV (the 50's). The 'look' has always played the same magnitude of a role.

Back on topic: look at Marilyn Monroe. I'm not going to say her performance was bad in Seven Year Itch, but it certainly wasn't Oscar material. Again, the look has always played a role.

I've seen quite a few token booth clerks that look like Sandra Bullock, lots of crack addicted ho's that resemble Halle Berry and way too many nuclear physicists that look as good or better than Denise Richards, so no, it is not a problem for me.
