I think that there is a big obsession with beauty in the western world and a bit also in the rest of the world today. I am not saying that beauty and sex never was used before but since the 80's it's been getting more of a selling point. I remember talking with one of my friend sometime ago. We were in his car and on the radio Dust In The Wind by Kansas started playing. He pointed out how songs like these are so rare these days, song with quality, songs that were created more as a message then selling something. I remember pointing out to him that look the guys from Kansas had back in the day, their ultra long hair and beards, no way a group like this today would have the same impact, their look would just prevent it. I think it's true for a lot of things, in music, and movies and TV. Look seem to be the first thing, not the talent. If there is talent all well and good but look is the everything.
