It's a very shit move that Warner International is releasing Mad Max 1 with a lossy dolby track for the original Australian track while the American MGM release gets a full lossless track...

where did you see about the lossy audio track

site i saw says for mad max

DTS-HD Master Audio English 1714 kbps 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1714 kbps / 16-bit (DTS Core: 2.0 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 16-bit)

compared to US

----- -------- ------- -----------
DTS-HD Master Audio English 2827 kbps 5.1 / 48 kHz / 2827 kbps / 24-bit (DTS Core: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 1509 kbps / 24-bit)

they all seem to like dropping the audio tracks from 24bit to 16bit for UK releases for some reason

You misunderstand, the lossless track on the Warners disc is of the shitty American dub, NOT the native Aussie audio. If you want lossless Aussie (albeit the inoffensive 5.1 remix and not the original mono, though that's on there in lossy DD) then the MGM disc is the only way to fly.

Wow, I'll pick this up. I hope the packaging is worth the wait. I live in Rio, but the edition we will get here is the single one. I want that Petrol Can Packaging *+*

anybody know what the standard UK Trilogy packaging will be?

just the amaray and nothing else, or does it come with a cardboard slipcase?
there's two pictures for the standard version, one shows the amaray case, the other the cover design that's on the petrol-tin. might that be the slipcase-cover in this case?

btw:
how big is that petrol tin (it's not the first one is it? never seen one though)?
i think it's kind of cool concept-wise, but i suspect it'll not slot into the collection all that well...

I just wanted to know if this is going to have extras. Here in Brazil the collection has already been released (two weeks ago), but the case lists that Mad Max 1 and 3 have no extras. Only the second one does. I'm afraid if this is going to be the same... If it is, I'll cancel it. It better not be.

According to information about the Dutch and German releases Mad Max 1 and 3 indeed don't have any extras. Only the US release of Mad Max 1 has extras (not counting the trailer on Mad Max 3), but that release is region A only. The US releases of Mad Max 2 and 3 are the same as the internatonal releases.

Thank you, FrankV.

That's it, I'll cancel it right away. No extras, no deal.

I'm sure they will release a better box set when the fourth movie comes out.

I'm not gonna touch the Warners release of MM1 with a bargepole. Typical bit-starved encode + lossless dub = pukesville.

Exactly or realise that an ancient mono mix will not benefit from lossless more so when we have no idea if the source was lossless or not.
Plus it is a bloody remix on the US, there is no original mix on either disc in lossless so the point is moot.
Plus as you said

The clean up

Personally I will rip the Laserdisc PCM mono track
