As an adult, I've only walked out of "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover". I made it until 20 minutes before the end, so sat through
[Show spoiler] but left before the dinner scene. The thing that will deter me from seeing a film is if I hear there is animal cruelty, like "Untraceable" or "1900". Last edited by EPlay; 08-08-2013 at 08:17 PM. |

I am really getting tired of seeing RAPE in movies.
Especially when it is used gratuitously in horror movies. Also I hate sappy American patriotism. That will make me stop watching something if it is too pro-america. Luckily very few things I watch are like that. |

When you don't give the audience a modicum of respect and need to smack them in the face repeatedly with a simple premise over and over again. Or when you show the prologue just 100 minutes later in the epilogue because of course we forgot the connection already. Herp derp summer moviegoer dumb.

I'm never offended by anything in a movie enough to walk out of it. Once I sit down to watch a movie, it's a "done deal", and I'm going to finish that movie no matter what. I think of movies in the same way that I think of my gym workouts or my marathon races. Quitting is not an option.
However... I really dislike bodily function humor or references to bodily functions in movies. Movies are a make-believe world where toilets, urination, flatulence, and such simply don't exist, and I'd like to keep it that way. That's real world stuff, folks, and not movie stuff. A bodily function joke in the first Transformers movie threw off the whole movie for me. I saw a rom-com, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, a few years back that I loved for the most part, because Kat Dennings was gorgeous and the soundtrack was excellent, but I couldn't stomach seeing the movie more than once simply because there's a gross scene where a girl drops a piece of gum in a dirty toilet, then finds it and starts to chew it again. Ewwww. I refuse ever to see the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie because of a bodily function joke in one of the trailers. ...and so on. You get the point. |

Only movie I walked out of was Solo, mostly because my then girlfriend proposed a better offer. Only movie I cut off was Green Hornet. I think I fooled myself into thinking I liked it more than I did when I watched it on my Evo 3D so I bought it. The Mrs. & I got about 10 minutes in til we decided to watch something else. I even sat through the Star Wars Lifeday Special last night so for me to walk out/cut off a movie takes a whole lot. Last edited by jd_from_da_80s; 08-09-2013 at 05:04 PM. |

Any film that has a negative view/undertones of Christianity. That's my big one as my faith is very important to me, and things like that really offend me. It really takes a lot to offend me, but that one will do it every time. There has only ever been a select few movie I have turned off because of being repulsed like that.

That being said, I do have a small amount of discretion when seeing movies. For instance, I have never started watching Inappropriate Movie, or Madea's Witness Protection, and Jack and Jill, and so on, but I would be liable to leave them. |

I usually turn off movies if I am just putting on random Netflix of Amazon Prime movies and realize I just don't care after about 20 minutes.
I have never left a movie at a theater mostly because I'm tall and feel like I'm blocking everybody's view if I stand up. The scene in Transformers 2 with the parents helping whats his face move in at college was so terrible that I had the remote in my hand and thumb on the stop button, but then the scene changed and something either blew up or transformed so I stuck it out. Not that watching the rest of that movie made me any happier than if I had turned it off. |

I only turn off a movie if I feel it's going to be painfully ordinary and boring. Sometimes, you can tell right off the bat that it's not going to be for you. I have literally thousands of interesting films to want to watch before croaking, so if a crappy start doesn't improve in, say, 10 minutes, I'm choosing something else to watch. |
