I think it's like foil card...only downside is that creases show up more obviously on them and if they get scratched it's more glaring. Luckily I can pick a mint copy to buy, as can you if you buy it instore (or probably if you get it online but a gamble if you get a slip or not).

Similar to the Beasts Of The Southern Wild one if you've seen that - high gloss metallic, very bright and very nice! It's £14.99 at the moment but sometimes prices drop just before they're released, quite a few new releases are only £12.99 these days at HMV.

Will upload the pic now and edit this post with it so you can see it
That's a pretty kewl slipcover. I want one.

This or the steelbook... confusion, confusion.

Out of respect for me (or the designs that were actually better than the winning one), you wouldn't get the steelbook - my design wasn't chosen, and in my opinion the competition was fixed (the winning design had already been entered in the Little White Lies poster contest before...if it was so good why didn't it win that one too? Refn judged both)

Slipcover isnt anything special. Mind you, its a whole lot better than that steelbook abomination which couldnt look worse in my opinion!

Agreed! they could have done much better w/ the SB artwork, it's a shame cause the director himself chose this design .. which at a second thought is truly hideous.

The only reason i'm considering this steelbook is because it's suppose to be the first exclusive by Empire - which basically is one of my favorite film magazines.

Anyways.. I just might go for the UK standard edition, i'll take the shiny slipcover over the blossomy steel.

I love the steel design. I don't even like steelbooks, but like this design so much I'm blind buying.

Yes but since then they've done...Machete Kills? Also with that one they only gave people a week to design it!

This was my own design:

Alternatives here, here and here.

I might go for the amaray...but I'm undecided over that or Alpha Papa. I might end up getting both but I'm already getting a bunch of stuff as it's payday. I saw Only God Forgives twice already but would like to see it again! Was ripped apart in reviews but I liked it - not as much as Valhalla Rising though, but almost as much as Drive.

At first i was genuinely happy about their collaboration... but after seeing that Top 35 list, it's clear that this is more like a business deal where Empire will promote Zavvi's stuff... In the end, can't fault them... but Zavvi's ugly monopoly on exclusives is so unfair.

Your design is really cool ... to me it seems like they randomly picked a winner.

and as for Alpha Papa - I think it must be good, I'll probably blind-buy it... the steelbook looks equally interesting.

If anyone has the UK release, please could you post images of the booklet.

I was the other runner up in the Little White Lies competition (not the one that did the steelbook cover) & as I'm getting the blu-ray for Christmas, won't see my handy work in print until then otherwise.

Thanks in advance!

This (along with the limited German Digi) was a blind buy for me, based upon my love of Drive.

I wasn't disappointed. You could cut the atmosphere with a sword. It feels the way a good horror should feel.

I can see why some people might not enjoy it, but it's one that gets better with repeat viewings. I love it when that happens because it actually feels like it was worth buying if you get more than a couple of viewings out of a release.

I have my slipcovered copy at work still reserved...wondering whether I should just buy it now or wait 'til Christmas to see if it drops in price just before/around the time of the sales. Still, I'll only be paying £10.50 for it...

Yes - mine arrived last Friday (ordered Thursday), so it's safe to assume that it's standard to get the slipcover.

For the time being perhaps. But quite often slipcovers that aren't under the cellophane are limited to initial release, and any manufactured afterwards probably won't have slips. I've got one reserved and gonna buy it on payday most likely. Little White Lies just put this in their top 10 of 2013 by the way.

Whilst we're here, just to let people know this is now in the 5 for £30/3 for £20 offer at HMV. Not bad considering the slips are still knocking about too. Plus I thought the film got a bad rap - it wasn't that different from what Refn has done before even in terms of style and content.
