that's one of the reasons why I didn't watch a lot of horror as a kid - my imagination was too good and even if something was a little weird, I could dream up something very scary from it. Strangely, never had the dreams where I am running from Freddy or Michael Meyers or anything. had them in dreams, just never worried about them.

I liked horror films as a kid but Childs play's chucky scared the heck out of me and another thing I had an Alf stuffed doll and I always left it in my closet cause I was afraid of him. that fear came from chucky I think but I had never seen Alf as a kid. If I had seen how lovably funny Alf was I probably wouldn't have been afraid 😄 ahh memories 😄

I was 6 years old when I watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I was terrified of the Judge Doom scene, when he stands up & turns round with his eyes popping out after he is flatted by the stream roller.

I found the stream roller part hilarious.

My folks said I went from to / in the space of a few seconds.

Never seen Texas Chainsaw Mascare. However, I have heard before that this was based on a true story?

* From my understanding, it is more based on an "actual event." Someone was killed with a chainsaw, but I don't think any of those characters are based on any living person (I could be wrong).
If you are into horror, you should check this one out. The reboots/sequels are garbage compared to the 1974 original.

Not really a horror fan, but my brother owns the original film and said that it was really good. Might have to check this out sometime along with Pet Sematary

For some reason, I always found traditional horror to be morbidly fascinating. I just wanted to see more of it, even if it made me anxious. As far as films that stayed with me long after watching them, I was probably the most unnerved by the whole concept of alien visitation. I grew up living on the edge of a forest, so it wasn't that far of a stretch for me to imagine being abducted and taken away in the middle of the night.

To that end, E.T. always sort of creeped me out in parts, but for some reason, despite loving the X-Files, the movie Fire in the Sky with the image of whats-his-face being drug rapidly down a corridor by aliens still gives me goosebumps. Something about the shot being framed as an 'almost-POV' with 'rapid dolly' movement... *shivers*

I was 7 years old at the time T2 was released and to this day I am amazed that movie didn't scare me as a child.

Chucky in general.
I didn't see the films as a child either, I honestly don't even remember how I was afraid. But as I child I had a My Buddy doll and I guess for Halloween one year my parents dressed up and put in a window with a flash light in its face and I guess it scared me. When I'd go to my aunts she would have to take all the dolls from the shelf and box them up because they scared me. And I used to terrified of anything scary.
When I got to the middle school and got over the fear and started watching scary movies like Halloween and whatnot.

Nightmare on Elm Street pt.1 freaked the hell out of me...so much more then the usual slasher flick.
Chainsaw Massacre 1 made it hard for me to sleep for a few nights! Tobe Hooper really knew how to scare in this one.

I remember how I wanted to watch "Bram Stoker's Dracula" by FF. Coppola, I was maybe 10 and waited impatiently to a late hour when it was to start on television.

When I saw Gary Oldman's Dracula's shadow moving differently than the vampire itself... I almost shat my pants and went to sleep

I have always been the type to get more freaked out by possession, zombies and vampires and such rather than serial killer movies. I feel less of a man for saying this but to this day I still get scared from horror movies. The most recent horror movie to scare me was Insidious, which I have been told by many isn't scary at all. Funny thing is my grildfreind likes them and I watch them all the time. Though most aren't very scary at all

As a child......

The Thing - The part in were the head slides off the body and grows likes like a spider - scared the crap out of me. That night I refused to turn off my light and go to bed because I thought it would pop up from the bottom of my bed.

Evil Dead 2 - Boys in my grade school watched this at a birthday party when I was like 11-12. I had to leave the room it was too scary for me. Didn't finally watch that movie until this year.

Poltergeist II - The creepy guy in the Black hat at the door.

Jaws - Anytime it jumped out of the water. I would get scared at night thinking my bed was a boat and the shark would jump out at the bottom of my bed.

Exorcist - To this day just a picture of that make-up job or a quick flash on TV disturbs me.
