I always loved movies, but there was a time period in which I lost interest in them. I didn't care for cinema for like, 2 years. The movie that got me into cinema again was, for some reason, The Amazing Spider-Man

From that point on, I got addicted to movies like I never was before.

For me it was Jurassic Park when I was about 13-14 years old. I remember that day so clearly, and despite being scared to death prior to seeing it (fear quickly turned into thrill); it was one of my best movie-going experiences.

And it introduced me to Steven Spielberg.

Well I grew up watching cartoons, so for me probably the original ninja turtles film. I still have a love for cartoons, anime, and the turtles too!

I think it's stands out as being different from a lot of other movies of the genre & is a true underated gem. The director also made a really great blaxploitation movie Hit Man (1972) that is based on the same novel as Get Carter and is every bit as good IMO.

Jaws.

IMO the perfect American movie. Story, acting, music, cinematography, it's first rate from start to finish.

I was six years old when I first saw it and it definitely put me on the road to becoming who I am today...

For me as a young kid, seeing Titanic made a huge impact. But what really starter my intellectual interest in film was 2001: A Space Odyssey. The way I viewed movies changed from then on. It also opened my eyes to discover other films. So thank you, mr. Kubrick

My parents used to buy me a lot of Disney movies when I was small. But when I finally got ahold of their Star Wars and Indiana Jones VHS tapes, I was hooked forever.

I was in a similar situation. My issue wasn't so much losing interest in films, it's just that at one point I felt "desensitized" (if that's the right word) about movies in terms of being aware that it was just a bunch of actors standing in front of a camera being told to act. I guess watching a lot of making-of's will probably do that to you after a while . It was kind of like being self-conscious. Thankfully I am over that phase and am back to loving movies again

Pretty much every film in the list below:

Jurassic Park
-I was obsessed with this film for a while years ago.

King Kong
-I already loved the original '33 film when I saw it on TCM, but when I saw Peter Jackson's remake in 2005 in the theater in about 3rd Grade, I felt like I was brought into another world. Lets just say that I was blown away by it.

E.T.
-I freaking wore this sucker out on VHS (and then on DVD). I then saw the film in theaters in 2002 for it's 20th Anniversary. The music...The editing...The acting...everything about this film was (and still is) perfect.

Disney Films (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Toy Story 1 & 2)
- All five of those I wore out on VHS also and they are also great films.

Got to be Star Wars (A New Hope). Saw it in the cinema on release when I was very young and it stayed with me!

Watching Mulholland Drive for the first time made me realise what a genius Lynch was. I was a Lynch fan before and was really looking to it - it more than lived up to expectations.

The Truman Show.

Back when I was in High School I was channel surfing and noticed that this was on TBS. Since I liked a lot of Jim Carrey's 90's comedy I decided to watch it expecting it to be another comedy. Turns out it wasn't one, but I loved the movie all the same.

A few years later I'm a freshman and college, and in my Composition Class we had to writer a paper on ethics in movies. I choose The Truman Show, so it ended up being my first ever real "film analysis" as well.
