I'm curious....

Like others, I loved the first season, but the subsequent seasons just got worse. I still watched (Noah and Sylar were the only reasons to watch the later seasons though.....) hoping that it would recapture the S1 greatness. My biggest issue with the show was how half of each season was everyone finding each other again. Seriously? After the second time,no one thought to trade contact info just in case Just drug out each season unnecessarily.

I think the shorter season will lead to tighter storytelling (and avoid the previously mentioned issue) and I would like to see each season deal with different groups of people to keep up the variety and keep the series from getting stale.

Also, I favor the complete reboot - no ties to the previous series and start the new series off right (ie: no excess baggage)

As long as they acknowledge the announcement Clair made on TV.

A similar show with a similar announcement that we will never get resolution on is Alphas.

I guess we'll wait and see on this. As most will agree, the original series got worse with each season

‘Heroes: Reborn’ Prequel Webseries in Development

When Heroes premiered in 2006, it didn’t take long for the superhero series to become a hit show with a growing fanbase. Unfortunately, the following year, the writer’s strike contributed to creatively crippling season 2, and its two subsequent seasons were never able to recapture the quality storytelling or viewing audiences of the first. After steadily dipping in the ratings, Heroes was canceled after four seasons.

The series’ sharp decline aside, season 1 of Heroes is still generally well-received. So much so, Heroes has been right up there with other cult shows like Firefly and Stargate Universe as a shows that fans have continually campaigned for a return.

Heroes fans got their wish when NBC announced last month the show would return in all new, 13-episode miniseries from executive producer Tim Kring. The new series, Heroes: Reborn, is expected to air in 2015 and will feature new characters and new storylines. These new characters, however, will first appear in a prequel webseries, which NBC unveiled today as one of the first series debuting through their new online original content initiative.

Titled – rather unimaginatively – Heroes Reborn: Digital Series, the online prequel will be available on NBC.com, Hulu, and video-on-demand. When it will be available isn’t clear, but seeing as casting hasn’t even been announced for the new series, it’s a safe bet the prequel will release no earlier than late 2014.

In addition to the Heroes: Reborn prequel, NBC has dozens of original projects planned for release through their digital platforms. At launch, there will be an interactive program about Saturday Night Live super fans who camp out in the sketch show’s standby line, as well as a comedy series about the real life friendship of Nikola Tesla and Mark Twain called Telsa and Twain, and Last Single Girl, a show about (surprise) the last single girl in a group of married friends.

While Last Single Girl sounds absolutely bland and unoriginal and Telsa and Twain sounds promising (if a bit weird), it’s Heroes Reborn: Digital Series that has the most potential with an already interested fanbase and established canon. And if it can successfully kick start a strong Heroes comeback, it’ll be a welcomed addition to the series.

Excited for Heroes return, either with the online prequel or the proper miniseries? What do you think of NBC capitalizing on online distribution for original content? Let us know in the comments below!

I loved the first season, but every season after was absolutely awful. Have no interest in watching it ever again.

I loved season one as well but man the show went down hill faster than a super model with a heroin addiction. Tim Kring should run a show that is written by Damon Lindelof and David Goyer. I would watch that travesty.

Meh... I'll give it a try, but not holding my breath.

S1 was good, but writers strike is no excuse for the junk the rest of it was. I mean S3 and after. No way a strike year earlier was responsible for Hiro being an imbecile child for the rest of the show, or for Nathan coming back again and again, Sylar becoming dunno what, and bunch of other things...

I know it's a very unpopular opinion, but I think season 2 is the best

it's short and sweet

Season 1 was the best... until they started believing their own hype and altering the plot to suit the audience feedback. Characters that were meant to die were saved to please fans... but the story was sacrificed in the process.

Season 2 had a shot to recover... but the writer's strike helped kill that.

Everything else was a train wreck. I watched it, and bought the Blu-rays... but it is a little sad that this show got 4 seasons and is now getting a comeback... and some other shows didn't get beyond their first seasons with much better promise.

Zachary Levi is going to play the lead in the Heroes reboot:

Quote:
In his first major post-Chuck TV gig, Zachary Levi has signed on to headline Heroes Reborn — NBC’s 13-episode continuation of Heroes, which ran from 2006 to 2010 — TVLine has learned exclusively.

Details about his character are being kept tightly under wraps, but we’re told Levi will be playing a “key” role in the reboot.
I was a huge fan of Levi on Chuck so this may be enough to get me to overlook just how awful Heroes got and give the reboot a chance.

Going to be interesting to see how to pick up and continue the Heroes Franchise. Looking forward to this but really need to re-watch the previous 4 seasons.
