They don't have to reboot. Just find an actor of appropriate age and set the movies in between the Harrison Ford movies. Maybe not every adventure has to be of supernatural nature either.

Die might have been a wrong word but it certainly underwelmed people.

Problem is Indy Jones is set it a very specific period. Look at Bond - they keep modernizing it so you can keep recasting it as the basics are still the same. With Indy, the moment you make it a "modern" movie, you are changing a ton of factors. Hard to move around the world unnoticed when there is gps and everyone has a cell phone. I think the only way this would work would be to sign an actor to an insane contract - say 10 films - and you release one every 3-5 years so you see the character age as the times change. They tried with Ford but they took too long between films. Even with this, it would allow them to recast if neccessary as long as they didn't suddenly make him 20 years younger.

I initially hard a hard time with someone else playing Captain Kirk. Shatner was Kirk in the tv shows, movies, animated series. Everything! So when the reboot came out, I thought it would be hard seeing anyone else play that character.

It worked out okay, and I am sure it will work out for Indy as well.

I'm sure they can pull off a somewhat decent reboot but I don't really have any interest in it. I feel the "magic" will be gone from the series without Lucas, Spielberg, and Ford.

Can we please never again start a movie thread based on a scoop or exclusive from Latino Review? They are the KINGS of bullsh!t rumors. They are the National Enquirer of movie sites. They regularly make up stuff and then once in a looooong while one turns out to be right, and they're like, "see! we're legit! bleieve us!"

You keep saying that, but a lot of the stuff they've reported has been true too. Their Marvel track record has been pretty spot on too. But we all know the reboot is eventual anyway...This story rings true, with Disney realizing they have a small window to do another with Ford. He's not getting any younger.

I dont know about "a lot". Some stuff they report is true. Much is false. And their Marvel track record is about 50/50.

I would rather see another sequel involving Harrison Ford and Shia Labeouf than a reboot. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was not that bad in my opinion. To be honest I would never want to see a reboot.

Honestly, they need to do one more send off movie with Harrison Ford as Indy before they decide to reboot.

Give him that send off, forget you even did KOTCS, and try to even bring back Connery and have them both finish off the series the way it should be before you reboot.

Then I'd be ok with Bradley Cooper starting the reboot but for the love of God, give Harrison a farewell send off and don't let it be KOTCS. That is not the way I want to remember him in his last Indy movie.

The send-off can happen, but there's no way they'll get Sean Connery.

Well, I don't really think it's a story problem, as the studio would want to keep Crystal Skull canon, so they could say Indy's father faked his death or something.

But Connery himself probably wouldn't want to do it, since he has stated that he has retired from acting completely. That and I'm pretty sure Connery doesn't enjoy doing sequels to his own movies very much.

They cant get Connery as he stated he didnt want to even do KOTCS thats why he was in just as a picture. He has retired from acting the only thing that ALMOST pulled him out of retirement was a scene in Skyfall, but the director decided against using him because they didnt want people looking at Kincade as James Bond.

You nailed it. Totally agree. The Indy films are for a specific time period and work within that realm. That aside, why the FOCK are they doing this now? Ya know why? heres why:

1) Money
2) Chance to have non-stop, ball-numbing CG action scenes for a good hour of runtime if not more.
3) Shove some "new age action star" up our butts
4) Cash
5) Cover up for lack of innovation and new ideas.
6) Probably sell toys at Burger King

Whatever though. Its the way of the world. Alls you can really "do" is not go see any of this stuff so I wont. Thats about it.

Well said. This list can apply for every stupid and useless reboot (Robocop, Spider Man, Terminator Retirement Tour, etc.)

Agreed 100%!! This wretched "reboot" idea has become a monumental bore! And Ford said on TV recently (during interviews for "Ender's Game") that he would love to do another Indy movie-- but they need a SCRIPT!!
