Overall I'm fairly disappointed by the nominations. It looked like they largely just went with the status quo and there weren't many surprising nods. I was happy that Silicon Valley got a Best Comedy nomination but I was hoping to see some acting nominations, particularly the work by the late Christopher Evan Welch as Peter Gregory. I also expected more nominations for Brooklyn Nine-Nine after winning Best Comedy and Best Actor at the Golden Globes, but the only nomination it received was for Emmy favorite Andre Braugher. It looks like category shopping worked out well for Orange is the New Black, as the show that is much more drama than comedy did very well in the comedy category.

Pretty much the usual suspects. Might be a big upset with Breaking Bad going out with a whimper but honestly, it just feels super unexciting this year. I think if True Detective went the mini-series route we would have had a really exciting race there.

I am really surprised they are completely ignoring Tatiana Maslany again this year. She just won the Critics Choice Awards like a couple of months ago... Deserved at least a nomination

I scrolled through that list quickly, but not even one nomination for The Walking Dead?

It may have gotten some technical or makeup nominations (I only looked at the acting and best show noms), but it has never been the type of show that gets critical acclaim. It's a show like NCIS in that it's extremely popular but ignored by the major shows at award time.

Edit: Just checked and The Walking Dead got nominations for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Series and Outstanding Special and Visual Effects in a Supporting Role.

I see, thanks, yet reality shows which are all garbage, get their own categories.

The Walking Dead has horrible writing and average acting. It doesn't Deserve anything besides technical nods.

Seriously. I like the show but outside of technical noms the show doesn't deserve anything else.

I agree, Orphan Black is a great series, and she's phenomenal in it.

OUTSTANDING COMEDY - This one is really tough. I watch all 5 of these shows...I love that Silicon Valley got a nomination, but I'm not sure if it is worthy, too new. Same with BBT, but just "average." Modern Family is over-rated to me..Veep is very solid and outstanding but I think it lacked a tiny bit this season. OITNB was solid, but I don't know if it will win. I really enjoyed Louie this year. It was different, fresh, unique, and it featured one of my favorite TV scenes of the year, so I'm picking that.

Louie

OUTSTANDING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY - God, I would LOVE for Amy to win...but Julia is outstanding and I always love the reliable Edie and so do the voters. I'm going out on a crazy limb here with Amy.

Amy Poehler, Parks and Recreation

OUTSTANDING ACTOR IN A COMEDY - Love that Macy got nominated, he is absolutely sensational and had an incredible role this season. Totally deserves it, but I'm not totally sure it is a "Comedy" role lol (we all know the controversy about this show and others in the comedy/drama fields) But Louie is a really close close call.

Louis CK, Louie
William H Macy, Shameless

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A COMEDY - Torn between these two..
Kate Mulgrew, Orange Is the New Black
Kate McKinnon, Saturday Night Live

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A COMEDY - Not sure about this one. Another really hard category. I watch all these shows...hmm...split between Ty, Fred and Tony.

Ty Burrell, Modern Family
Fred Armisen, Portlandia
Tony Hale, Veep

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY - Really split between these two...ughhh lol
Uzo Aduba, Orange Is the New Black
Joan Cusack, Shameless

OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY
Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live

OUTSTANDING REALITY SHOW HOST - No Jeff Probst...ugh...
Jane Lynch, Hollywood Game Night

OUTSTANDING REALITY SHOW COMPETITION
The Voice

OUTSTANDING VARIETY, MUSIC, OR COMEDY SERIES

OUTSTANDING TV MOVIE

LEAD ACTOR IN A TV MINISERIES OR MOVIE - Damn. Billy Bob destroyed this role, but Martin Freeman was outstanding as well.

Martin Freeman, Fargo
Billy Bob Thornton, Fargo

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A TV MINISERIES OR MOVIE
Allison Tolman, Fargo

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A TV MINISERIES OR MOVIE
Colin Hanks, Fargo

Well seems yes way.

I was wrong about Breaking Bad, I knew it would get a few but I wasn't expecting such a clean sweep. Fargo didn't do as well as predicted which is a shame and I was hoping True Detective was going to pick up a few more just for a bit of change, but I should of really knew the Emmys would stick to what's familiar.

I was really surprised that they went with past winners in every series acting category, with the only actor winning for a new role being Allison Janney for Mom, but she's Emmy royalty with 5 past wins. I really expected Orange is the New Black to do much better and thought it was a real contender for Best Comedy, but it practically went home empty-handed. I also expected a lot better showing from True Detective. If it had submitted itself in the miniseries category it would have cleaned up. I thought Matthew McConaughey would win for sure as an Oscar winner and a huge movie star but apparently the Emmy voters don't love movies stars the way the Golden Globes do (and McConaughey is a shoo-in for the Golden Globe, especially with Cranston being ineligible).
