Saw the trailer for this the other day.... Wow, it looks awesome, but not at all what I thought this was.

Yes and it was the red-band trailer. First time seeing the red-band, but fourth time I've seen a trailer for it at the theater. I'm excited to see this next month.

It was the first time I'd seen a trailer and I generally see 3 movies every Tuesday. At least it was put with a big movie.

I wonder if A24 will ever get confident and go for a full wide release someday. I know they experimented with The Witch and that gave them mixed results (great reviews and solid box office but a mixed audience reception), so it should be interesting to see how this pans out.

I saw it at TIFF last September. It's easily Wheatley's most accessible film and a huge step up from the meandering mess that was High Rise. I highly doubt there will be a funnier film in 2017 than this.
What you see is what you get: 90 minutes of non-stop mindless violence. 10-15 minutes of setup followed by a never-ending shoutout that features a glorious concoction of graphic violence and slapstick comedy. The action may get tiresome for some (I don't think I've heard this many gun shots in a 90 minute timespan before) but it's the comedy and character dynamics that keep it afloat and make it endlessly entertaining. The characters are all so damn interesting and joyous to watch that I found myself rooting for almost everyone and not wanting them to die just so I can keep watching them interact and bicker with each other. Sucks to be those who can't enjoy what Sharlto Copley does because he is madcap brilliance in this. Brie Larson on the other hand was just kinda there. I don't think I've ever found her bland. She's amazing in Room and especially Short Term 12. She's a great actress and she's the only reason I'm interested in Captain Marvel. I don't bother with most of the MCU but this will be an exception.
