I dunno, I guess you can sense a theme but 12 genres being over represented seems somewhat well rounded. Anime will definitely continue to be strongly underrepresented in my collection. It says I have 1 - Gotham Knight.

I would like to add more forgein films and documentaries. Wish there were more Attenborough BBC nature docs

Nature and Western are easy to bump up as their genres I have a modest interest in. Drama I typically am not a huge fan of, however there are probably enough titles I wouldn't mind owning to bump up the category slightly. Anime is a tougher sell as I'm really only interested in the Studio Ghibli titles. Foreign is interesting to me as I potentially could bump this up easily as well if I learn of enough titles, but as it is right now there aren't many I'm aware of. Everything else is probably not going to happen.

Me too. Not so strange when you look at what are actually listed as Holiday for me. Lethal Weapon, Die Hards etc...

Music on the other hand was a surprise to me that it wasn't "strongly" overrepresented.

It appears I'm a bigger fan of anime than I thought. The only thing I'm sad to see in the underrepresented category is documentary. Any category left off can be assumed to be represented in the "proper" amount. Guess that means I have the exact right number of erotic and music Blu-rays. Do with that what you will.

Hooray for taking a firm stand against a position that was never taken. These are merely statistical break downs of each user's collection. 'Underrepresented' means that there are less titles in a category than the average*. It says nothing of this being a bad or unwanted thing. I know no one who would expect their collection to "correctly" represent all possible genres. That hasn't been expressed in this thread. No one is suggesting you buy anything to fix the representation of certain categories in your collection.


*I don't know if the average is based on the frequency with which the respective categories appear in all Blu-ray/DVD releases or the frequency with which they appear in user's collections. Either way, the average would change all the time.

No point buying things you aren't into for the sake of statistics. The stats indicate that comedies and animation are strongly under represented in my collection, but so what? I have plenty of comedies on dvd, and most comedies have little aesthetic value so I'm not concerned with watching them in HD.
