The disc is encoded at 480i instead of 1080p.

TOXIC AVENGER II BLU-RAY RECALL:

Thank you to the fans who brought our attention Toxic Avenger II Blu-ray issues. It’s been confirmed that the Blu-ray discs are defective and not in true 1080HD. We’ve instructed our distributor to issue a recall of all outstanding discs. We’ve corrected the problem and have told our distributor to replicate and distribute a new batch of corrected discs ASAP. If you purchased a copy of the film through https://www.tromashop.com/, please email customer service for a replacement disc. If you’ve purchased from Amazon or another retailer, please make your return and replacement through them.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please know we value your support tremendously and unlike the hated multinational conglomerates General Motors, Ford, and Chrystler, we will never take you for a ride. And unlike the tradition of these hated companies, please accept our love.

Fun fact: Going by BD.com standards this disc actually has 0 unique films on it.

**Edit** I didn't see the follow-up until after I had emailed them. Since I bought my copy on Amazon, I contracted them to make the return. I'm waiting for Troma to get back to me with an ETA on when they expect the corrected copies to ship so I know when it will be safe to reorder.

I'm curious.....how do i know if the one i'm currently in the process of receiving from Best Buy is the 1080p (fixed) version?

Sho-Nuff, I am wondering the same things. I ordered my copy from DeepDiscount and it was originally backordered and then shipped out on 5/1 after I saw these posts. I'm wondering if there's a way to tell if I go the corrected copy. I'm guessing that I didn't because DeepDiscount doesn't even have the movie on their site anymore and Amazon isn't currently selling it because it's being reviewed. Have you tried your copy? I'm waiting to open mine until I hear some more info.

Troma choosing to self-produce Blu-rays is just like when people try to get up to go to the bathroom without assistance shortly after hip/knee surgery. It inevitably leads to poor outcomes.

I emailed TROMA and they told me to return it back. I guess we ordered just as they were recalling.

I'm assuming TROMA will release a statement (through social media) when the correct batch arrives at stores?

Best Buy currently has it removed from their website.

Thanks, that's what I was figuring. When I called DeepDiscount last week, they didn't know what I was talking about. Looks like I'll have to call them back and set up a return/refund.

By the way, I love your avatar. We need The Last Dragon to come out on Blu-ray.

I think I will do the same thing, I just received my copy from Best Buy as well. Hopefully Troma will add a note or something to the packaging of the fixed copies so we can identify them?

Also, does anyone know if the third film, which is listed as being released on Blu-ray today, is actually available anywhere or was it delayed?
