Yep, I doubt a cheap universal wet gate scan will yield better results

Would definitely buy these again for brand new 4k scan masters. Not for features though, the existing set is stocked full of crap.

Yeah, you can get one for the price of a new mid-sized car (30-35K), but of course can trick them out to be much more expensive (especially if you do BTTF detailing). But, it's not outrageously expensive - I have looked into it, I don't deny LOL. Way cheaper than a '66 Batmobile. Not that I've looked...

That could be your holy grail right there, put it in a glass case with lights & everything. Could even grab their Marty and pose him next to it in his iconic watch pose.

Okay I'll stop.
Haha, yes, it is all so temping. And admittedly, Sideshow does make it easy LOL. I actually think they do it the "right" way - basically a pre-payment plan, vs. a credit plan. And it's nice when you get that gorgeous package and it being fully paid for. I think overall their "Sideshow Tax" on things has gotten a bit out of hand, but in the last couple of years I have bought several and have several more on various stages of order.

The only thing keeping me from the Delorean is that I really REALLY need the 66 Batmobile, like need in a deep scary way LOL. There keep being rumors that it was cancelled, but it still is supposedly coming. My guess is they are having an issue with getting the finish or something ready for prime time. But since Marty is already on his way to me, I really am close to pulling the trigger on the Delorean. Yes, it's a crazy price - but you basically have a year to pay it off, and I don't drink $5 coffees so while there is definitely sticker shock (never bought anything like this that expensive before, I think my record is $350ish), it's not so insane when broken down.

I still kick myself for not getting the Keaton Batmobile, LOL. And they are usually a grand or over now. At least with the Sideshow stuff, it generally holds it's value should you ever decide to part with it.

Universal really need to go back and remaster these films.

The sound quality and special features on the current BD's are excellent but the transfers are a major let down.

Yes they're better then all the previous home video releases but they could look miles better if they were given new 4K masters and remastered without any DNR & EE applied.

Heck I'd settle for the current HD masters without all the digital processing.

ITV have broadcasted the un-manipulated masters over here and they look miles better then the BD transfers.

This so much.

Heck, I'd be thrilled with a Trilogy screening in theaters, marathon style. I went to AMC's Indiana Jones marathon and it was maybe the best time I've had in a movie theater ever.

Well okay, I'm in for this. Can't wait for the 8k version someday, or was that 8x DNR and 8x EE?
Oh, and a 1/6 scale time machine would be super, we could go 1/6 of the way back to the Big Bang!

So.....is the 30th anniversary of the film being released or is it just speculation as of this moment? I say Universal owes us a redo of the crap we all bought 4 years ago and this time with faithful to the negative transfers. Everytime I watch one of the films, I die a little inside knowing that they could be a lot better than what they are.

Because the OP is about an adscan from Home Media Magazine and therefore this is rooted in more than just hope. To be fair, the person who posted the OP didn't mention that DVD News Flash got it from a magazine, but that's what it says on the original fb post.

There isn't no mention of a new blu-ray release in that pic, I'm afraid. It's all speculation at this point

Why else would it be in a magazine about home video?

It's not a confirmation but it's a very strong reason to wonder, strong enough that this isn't wish list fantasy.

It better be for new transfers / editions and not simply a re-release of the first film standalone. That would be really frustrating.

I find it interesting that there was a guy on here claiming he's going to talk to Universal about redoing the Video transfers and askingus what to include for extras. We haven't heard back from this guy.

On the flip side, there is a documentary being worked on, called "Back in Time".

This year’s Kansas City FilmFest is going back in time with the man who made time travel in a DeLorean conceivable.

In honor of the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future, co-screenwriter and producer Bob Gale is presenting a new Digital Cinema Package 2K version of the film at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at Cinemark Palace on the Plaza, as part of the Kansas City FilmFest (April 16-19).

“Having supervised the post-production as well, this DCP looks better than the movie ever looked in the theater,” Gale tells The Pitch. (After the film, Gale will take part in a Q&A with the audience.)

I'm no expert or nerd on film technology or whatever, but do you think this in any way supports the hunch people here have about a new BD release of Back to the Future?
