None of them have been bought, and none of them are, can, or will be upconverted to HD by playing on the Apple TV without the viewer buying the HD versions. |

Sorry but I just needed to come back to this real quickly and then I'm done. I had said that an indicating factor of proof that your digital copy which was originally redeemed in SD was given to you as a free upgrade to stream on your Apple TV in HD before Apple started offering iTunes Extras with movies they would show iTunes Previews greyed out on the Apple TV since you were originally given it in SD Apple wasn't giving you the extras for free on your Apple TV or treating digital copies like full iTunes purchases back then. But this was an indication that you had the HD copy since that box of iTunes extras needed to be there. Some one had said that, that's not an indication that it's HD because it's an iTunes extras preview and could be seen on the SD version. That is completely false. If you switch in settings your Apple TV to standard definition under store settings you will not see iTunes extras preview boxes greyed out in the store on movies that have iTunes extras., since this is only visible on the HD version of the purchase. This box is only there with HD copies. which would mean like I had originally said Apple is allowing you to stream from the cloud from the HD source on you Apple TV.

The facts are these:
While it would be nice if they were HD, they clearly aren't. |

I personally think it does look HD and see large improvements when streaming on the iPad vs. streaming on the Apple TV. Clearly much better. (Babylon A.D. Is a perfect example of difference in quality of stream) You can't verify bandwidth when streaming to an Apple TV. It does not show that information. And lastly once again the SD copies show nothing with an iTunes extras box not even a preview. It's the HD copy. If you buy the SD version of a movie you won't see the iTunes extras preview box. You only see that with HD movies. |

As I have already posted _screen shots_ from the same environment using an SD redeemed code and an HD redeemed code of the _same movie_, and the are clearly different (the SD is upscaled, the HD is much clearer), there is no reason to debate this anymore.
It's simply not true... At this point it's probably time to just ignore this thread if there's any further posting in it... ![]() |
