I honestly can't find anything but I remember when the Apple TV 3 coming out Apple saying digital copies on the Apple TV would stream in HD from the cloud as an upgrade.

I personally think it does look HD and see large improvements when streaming on the iPad vs. streaming on the Apple TV. Clearly much better. (Babylon A.D. Is a perfect example of difference in quality of stream)

You can't verify bandwidth when streaming to an Apple TV. It does not show that information.

And lastly once again the SD copies show nothing with an iTunes extras box not even a preview. It's the HD copy. If you buy the SD version of a movie you won't see the iTunes extras preview box. You only see that with HD movies.
