the flaw of Microcrap/Toshiba is that they don't want to get better, they just sometimes see they have to and do a little thing, in other words, they're here for the money, they don't care a bit for the customer
have you seen the thread about companies that are following the ecologic howto? Nintendo is last with Microcrap and Toshiba not far behind, Sony is in the top five ...

Have you seriously never seen this?

http://www.tvpredictions.com/bluwarner103007.htm
"But Home Media Magazine reports that Silverberg believes that Blu-ray may be winning the format war and, consequently, it may be time for the studio to pick one over the other."

http://www.hometheatermag.com/news/110107willwarner/
Here's what Dan Silverberg, Warner's VP for high-definition media, had to say at a recent Blu-ray promo event in Hollywood: "One thing that may be changing is our strategy. When both formats launched and hardware prices were high, we made a decision to support both formats and let the consumer decide. But now that hardware pricing is affordable for both Blu-ray and HD DVD, it appears consumers no longer want to decide—so the notion of staying in two formats for the duration is something we are re-evaluating now that we are in the fourth quarter."

If Warner discontinues one of the two formats, which would get the ax? Well, the fact that he was speaking at a Blu-ray event was indicative, but just in case you were wondering: "We can definitely talk Blu-ray. We are committed to the format."

I would recommend that people don't post this on other forums or we risk being inundated by trolls. While some are actually helpful, when you have too many of them it becomes irritating.

sweet! this would pretty much end the war within 12 months. paramount and universal would have to go neutral in order to sell anything in japan.

Money speaks louder than words:

I bought at least 9 titles on the BOGO, three more this morning. I've also ordered the Potter box, Ocean's gift box, Omega Man, Hairspray, T3, Smallville, Nip/Tuck. I intend even to order the That's Entertainment box set.

I've doubled and triple dipped (counting laserdiscs) so often I feel like a street corner ice cream vendor in the middle of a heat wave.

Warner, I know you're listening.

Since when are they "great upconverting DVD players"? The XA2 is good, but it uses a completely different deinterlacing solution.

103 pages. It was the most fun I'd had here.
I kept wondering if we were going to crash the server, but it never even caused it to slow down.

I have the A2 and it is a great upconverting DVD player for film based DVD's. Better than my PS3.

"Film based DVD's" says it all really :P . It may be a good DVD player, but it's not a good upconverting DVD player. For that there's far better options out there, including the PS3.

That's the majority of what I watch on DVD either way so it's good for me, like I said, it's better than the PS3 at upscaling, so it's my primary DVD player.

Watch any extras shot on video however and it becomes obvious just where the limitations lie. Even a $30 Wal mart DVD player can upscale film content fine - the difference lies in how they handle more difficult material. I also seriously question your claim that the A2 is any better than the PS3 for film - they should be about equal when calibrated correctly.

I'm assuming that's directed towards me, I use the A2 for DVD's/HD DVD's and my PS3 for Blu-ray/gaming/etc.

Well, it's not bad with video, but I don't watch a lot of video based material all that often either way. You may question my claim all you wish, but the display I use has been calibrated correctly and I've been in the home theater game since I was but a teenager so I do have an idea of the good and bad of technology. For film based DVD's, the A2 is better...just my personal opinion and no one has to accept it.

Anyways, it will be interesting to see how this all pans out in the future with regard to Warner.

Thing was he didn't hope it happened. He lied about it happening just to stir the pot.
Big difference.

We've got an article from Business Week magazine stating it's probably going down at CES and b/c of the rumor from the anonymous source 2 months ago some people are too afraid to talk about it now.
I think if this one took off like that previous thread did, it would be a testament to WB as to how ready we are to support them.

This is quite interesting. Why would a "vice-chairman" (I assume that's much higher than a peon VP, like those who like spreading rumors at some forums) of a major Hollywood studio say something like "the rumor is that..."?

Intriguing. Need to meditate on it for a while.

enjoy
