I watched the movie on Blu-ray and didn't even notice the framing problem. However, I'll probably go in for the replacement disc since (now that I know the problem exists) I'm certain to notice the problem in future views. I'll add my kudos to Disney for their corrective actions.

I didn't notice it when I first viewed the film. But, once it is pointed out it does look a bit odd.

But, at the time there was a question whether this was a genuine error, or whether the DP had decided the original framing was incorrect. I guess Disney's reaction answers that question.

Too often people automatically equate different from other releases with wrong. Look at the whole nonsense about Bram Stocker's Dracula. It's very different than the DVD and the LaserDisc before it, but it looks absolutely amazing on Blu-ray. And really is the first time it has been released properly on home video.

Not according to Dave Mack. After all, he went to film school, so he should know better than Kim Aubrey, Robert Harris, paidgeek, and Penton-Man.

You know they're still over there at AVS and HTF, saying that Dracula is akin to The Fifth Element. Thinking is, if they complain enough, Sony is eventually going to admit a massive conspiracy/cover-up and resissue.

We should all hold our breath for that...

I'll go for the replacement, not that this one bothers me but why not.

It's great to see Disney is going to replace the disks but i want to know if this replacement program will be open to us in the UK or should i instantly assume the feeling of forget anybody else outside the US mentality that exists with most other countries & assume Disney cares for ALL it's customers

I wonder cause we got screwed out of the 5 free rebate offer the BDA has even when we pay more, as much as i hate HD-DUD, i gotta say, at least the 7 free DUDs offer with a DUD player is available here, so is it gonna be open or my assumption is right

I'm certain this has been answered before, but at what point in the movie does this error occur? I watched the Blu-ray as well and didn't notice anything.

25:39 is pretty obvious . . . later in the same scene where Norrington comes through the door and Sparrow is on the ground, he's talking and his head is cut off.

Well, Dave Mack is not Francis Ford Coppola, who did not even authorize the previous format releases. He did authorize the Blu-Ray release and is featured in the extras in high definition (geez, his pink shirt is vibrant). So, the Blu-Ray is the definitive version thus far (in accordance to what Coppola wanted).

But this BD release didn't have the sticker w/ Francis Ford Coppola's name that the old Laserdisc had.

Gawd, when he posted that I laughed so hard that my admin assistant came into my office and asked what was going on.

For those you missed it... Disney is releasing the fixed versions now that will solve the problem here. They will even have a disc exchange "very soon"
But read this: http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...Very_Soon/1219
They are totally blowing this issue out of proportion! They treat it like some kind of MAJOR problem that destroys the movie and makes it un-watch-able.
Well at least they admit that it did get good reviews and the fix is coming out.

I just wished this never happened cause it is only supplying more FUD for HD-DVD.

There has been no official announcement yet for the process. Also it is for only POTC The Curse of the Black Pearl, not Dead Man's Chest

I have a bad feeling that I am not going to be able to purchase the "new" disc. I think I will have to "exchange" my old to get the new and I don't want to do that.

Maybe they will have the new disc for sale soon?

Default Wait a minute

Did you contact them first?

If not, a possible scam?

I mean, do you have a defective BRay disc? Is that even possible?
