United Kingdom POTC: Curse of the Black Pearl disc replacement for UK?

Hi all

Anyone know if there is a disc replacement program in place in the UK for the Pirates 1 Blu-ray.

Watching it the other day I had completely forgotten about the framing issue until we got to the scene in the blacksmiths workshop between Depp and Bloom.

Please tell me there is an email or phone number whereby I can contact someone to get a replacement disc... I'd like to say the framing issue isn't a problem but it is so noticeable it hurts!

Info greatly appreciated

What do you mean by framing issue? I haven't watched it in a while so I can't quite remember anything like that.

Watch the sword fight in the blacksmiths workshop. The top of Depp and Blooms' heads have been chopped off somehow along the way during the transfer to Blu-ray.

It has been fixed since they first went to press a couple of years ago... now i want the replacement disc...

Someone on here must know who to contact?!?

I tried the replacement disc thing when all this came to light and never got my copy. Tried several times since and got no reply.

Just emailed Disney, now it is all a matter of playing the waiting game!

I spoke with Disney UK and they said they acknowledged the problem. They asked me to send in my disk and then sent me a new one. The problem is the new disk they sent me has the same framing error. I wonder if they sent me back my old disk.

That is so a-typically British... as long as it looks like they're doing something, they don't have to actually do anything!

Well I sent an email to let them know I still got the issue.

Since I already sent one disk back and its the same person whos been dealing with me I am hoping I get a quicker responce and the issue resolved.

There is NO replacement programe in the UK

There is NO remastered UK disc

In fact there is NO remastered disc outside of the USA fullstop - clearly Disney does not consider regions outside of America to be important (and continues to sell the borked disc to unsuspecting customers in the UK, and rest of the World)

The reason i know all this is as a result from constant, nearly daily phone calls (both national AND international - at significant expence) and emails, for the best part of 6 months

This issue took me months to resolve, and lots and lots of jumping through hoops... I eventually got a replacement disc from America via the US Disney customer support... but not before i had to provide photographic evidence that i owned the disc.... in fact it was a handful of photographs, showing the front and back of the box and the contents inside, all sat on a plain piece of white paper with the email address i was corresponding to them with, written in large black marker pen, as proof that it was my own disc, and ... err.. my own photographs - lol

I was eventually, after about 6 months of beginning the whole process, sent the remastered US disc, from.. well.. America

I hope to God that i never have to deal with Disneys laughable UK customer support team ever again - It had got to the stage where i was beginning to think it would just have been easier to have re-bought it from the USA...

I guess i should just feel lucky that Disney had not Region Locked it, or else there'd have been no solution at all...

Differences: - Well apart from the fixed 'framing' issue... there is a huge amount of spam at the front of the disc you're forced to watch before you can get to the menus - meh.

Does the UK disc have the same issue as the US one? I bought mine from the US because it was a lot cheaper so have no clue about the UK version. As it only last a few seconds I'm not that bothered about it either and don't feel the need for a replacement, but I am curious.

Also at one point play.com was selling the trilogy on Blu for Ł10.99

Well I emailed Disney Home entertainments UK division last Monday and am yet to hear anything back...

Bloody waste of time. Looks like I'm going to have to just put up with this annoying framing issue!

does anyone know of anywhere I can order the US version where I will definitely get the corrected version?

I'm assuming some sites out there are still shipping the borked version.
Need to know if I'm guaranteed it to order

Guess emailing them would help.
Wondering if there's a barcode or version number so it is easily identifiable as to which version it is??

You'd be better off asking in the USA forum - but at a guess, somewhere with a large turnover (like Amazon.com) would be a good place to start, as they're unlikely to have the old stock floating about still

As regards Disney's poor UK customer service.

I had a problem with Sleeping Beauty just a few weeks after I'd purchased it, and I complained. Initially, they weren't very helpful, and so I complained again - after I'd resigned myself to buy another copy, and explained to them how big a Disney fan I was - (regular visitor to Disneyland Paris, run my own Disney forum, have a huge Disney collection - and sent them photo's and links to prove all this). They came back, very apologetic and acknowledged that they'd made a mistake, and said they would send me 2 Blu Ray's of my choice to make up for this.

So, in all fairness - there may be a problem in that a new disc hasn't been created for the UK, but that isn't really customer services problem. I've always found that Disney's customer service, whether it be online, at the Disney Store or in Disneyland Paris, has been first rate - and if they do screw up, they'll pull out all the stops to make things right for you.

The framing issue isn't really that much of a problem. Most people didn't even notice it until it was pointed out online, including a lot of reviewers.

Well I sure hope to receive a reply from you sometime in the next week. By the way (just out of interest) how long have you worked for Disney?

I just watched it again last night and never noticed the framing issue, so obviously it wasn't obvious ( ), but now I'm curious.

I can't remember exactly, but I would venture to say early 2008 or late 2007.

Insulting comment.

And I've never worked for Disney.
