Anyone know if it has an eco case or the clear Waxwork case?

Eco case unfortunately. No reversible artwork.

The clear case and reversible art was obviously because the Waswork set had two movies in it.

So it's positive-to-glowing reviews all around except for mine. Am I being unreasonable?

Not based upon the screencaps in your review! The reliability (or lack thereof) of Whysoblu and its highly questionable ilk have been covered many times before, but, as always, the actual text says it all (or, more accurately, nothing at all):

Quote:
One of the best things about Bud The CHUD’s debut on Blu-ray is how clean this transfer really looks. Its not wow’ing, but compared to what’s been available before, it sure is. Details are pretty strong and the image more than does the trick. Its pretty crisp and looks full. I owned this movie on DVD, though I hadn’t seen it, it was in a multi-pack and this picture really is beyond that one (I popped it in out of curiosity).
The transfer is 'clean', detail is 'pretty strong', and it 'looks full'. Also, by way of a more detailed analysis, 'the image more than does the trick'.

These sites are simply shameless shams, and they do a disservice to the entire industry.

Would folks like some random screen shots to view themselves outside of what the review sites have provided? My copy arrived today and I can post a selection if people care enough. Nothing beats seeing the film with your own eyes on your own set, but I'm happy to oblige fence sitters or folks who's packages won't arrive for some time.

I'm sometimes actually wondering if their writers know what they're doing or if it's actually the issue (them not knowing they're not competent for that).

I watched it tonight and thought it looked quite a bit better than the screenshots on this site led me to believe it would. Maybe not groundbreaking or anything, but it was on par with what I would expect for a movie of this age and production quality.

Well, after a month of sitting on my shelf, I finally got around to watching Chud II. I found myself really liking the first one, but as these things go, the sequel wouldn't live up to it. but despite the warnings upthread, I plunged in.

Ouch. Oh my giddy aunt. Wow. That was BAD.

It's a horror movie without horror or gore. It's a comedy without funny. It's a pain - an actual, physical pain - to get through. I couldn't do it, I had to bail half way through. I can do goofy slapstick, I can enjoy bad movies - but a movie that never figures out how to bring it together? A movie that's boring? This I cannot stand.

Well, I guess I'll throw it on the to-sell pile for one of these days. My first Vestron loser.

I know I'm in the minority but I actually enjoyed C.H.U.D. II. In fact when I DVR'd 1 & 2 from El Rey networt & watched them for the first time back to back I enjoyed 2 a bit more then 1. After picking up the BDs & watching both again I do like C.H.U.D. 1 better now but I still enjoyed 2.

C.H.U.D. II is a bad film in just about every way, but I have found that I do enjoy it slightly more each time I revisit it. After hearing that it was originally penned as a Return of the Living Dead Sequel, it helped my enjoyment as it made me think of and watch the film in a different light than I had previously. This was a title that likely should have been given an $8 - $10 bargain release and called a day, but I can't help but appreciate the undeserving attention the film was given as part of the Vestron Line and if nothing else, for reminding so many folks what a truly bad horror film looks like.

In the cannon of bad films, C.H.U.D. II doesn't deserve a spot near the top of the list IMO. I've tried to watch far, far worse films than CHUD II, mostly via failed blind buys back in the DVD days. I think the film gets a bad rap mostly because people want to associate it with the original, which it has nothing to do with. That's the fault of the distributors/marketers, who took it upon themselves to take a previous project unrelated to the original film and slap the CHUD name on it to capitalize on the original's success. Having said that, I wish Lionsgate had moved CHUD 2 a little further down the release schedule. As it is, the studio is moving very slowly with these and there are certain titles people won't go for no matter how the studio pretties them up. Right now it seems we're only getting one title in February. It's a good one but, come on, just one?

I have no issue with it being a bad movie - lord knows I've seen plenty of those in my day. But a movie also has to be entertaining, and I found myself looking at the clock and hitting the Runtime button on the remote over and over again. And when one more joke landed with a thud, I was all "I could be spending my time better".

That's the problem with humor - it's so hard to get right and so easy to screw up.

I don't think watching the first CHUD colored my take on CHUD II - I hadn't seen the first one in decades, so there's no nostalgia in play and I was warned going in that II was completely unrelated. So II was pretty much standing (or as in this case, falling) on it's own merits.

Ah well.

I feel like CHUD II is a good background movie. You never really want to sit down and watch it, but it's entertaining enough in it's own way that it's not so bad to have on while surfing the web, cooking, or doing light housework.

C.H.U.D. II and Blood Diner were two films I had renter's remorse over as a kid, though I'd have to say this edges out Blood Diner as being harder to watch, IMO. That song, man. That song.. if anyone is reading this thread and you're on the fence about buying C.H.U.D II go on youtube and look up the Bud the Chud song. That should give you a good idea of what to expect here.

C.H.U.D. II is more enjoyable if taken as a spin off movie with a different tone, than as a direct sequel to C.H.U.D.
