At my local IMAX in Germany you can actually book a IMAX 3D ticket...
Maybe it will chance to 2D before the movie was released?! I hope not.

Here a beautiful IMAX Spot with the IMAX Aspect Ratio:

That framing compared to the cropped version actually looks very promising for a 3d release. Hopefully we get it in the expanded aspect ratio in 3d at home.

I don't think Warner Brothers release any films with the expanded IMAX ratio unless they are directed by Christopher Nolan...

I finally found a couple of theaters that will be showing this in 3D. They are not my usual places to go,but I don't care.

just looked up the screening in toronto - the premiere imax theatre (scotiabank theatre) is just showing it in imax - no 3D.

Some interesting stuff from Roger Deakins, not on 3D this time but IMAX and HDR.

https://www.rogerdeakins.com/film-ta...2049-2d-or-3d/

Roger's preferred way to see the film is Regular Widescreen 2D (not 3D, IMAX or HDR).

We've known for a while that the North American IMAX release was going to be 2D-only.

My local Cinemark is offering advance tickets in their XD auditorium in 3D, but this far out they've only got one showtime each for 2D and 3D, so I'll need to wait to book it because the currently available 3D time is unreasonably late.

I think I said previously that I oversaw the timing of all the versions of 'BR2049' including the HDR version.

My preferred version is the standard 2D widescreen version. A problem I have with some viewing systems is their use of silvered screens. The image projected on a silvered screen lacks saturation as well as density as it falls off from a hot spot in the center of vision. This may not be so apparent for someone sitting in the optimum viewing seat but it is a compromise in terms of image quality wherever you are seated, though it maybe a compromise worth accepting if you are a fan of 3D.
Sounds like he holds this opinion mainly because he dislikes silver screens.

Wow, almost 3 hours long. I think I will wait for blu-ray 3d (hoping) and be able to pause it.

Which is something I can get right behind. At least the ones I recognise as silver screens with the artefacts they produce. Hoping to see this opening day in 3d.

Isn't all polarized, projected 3D played on silver screens? I assume that is what is installed in IMAXs and XD screens, even for 2D presentations.

RealD's "Ultimate Screen" is matte white. Silver screens are (by FAR) the most popular way to preserve polarization of reflected light, but not the only one.

OK, did some looking to figure out when and where to see it in 3D. One place in Penscola only has 1 showing a day for 4 days. The place here in town is showing it all day Friday and Saturday only. After that it is only 2D.

*Please do well enough for a 3D Blu*

No, I think it's mainly explained in his initial response:

"We shot the film in 2D and in a wide screen format."

In other words, that's the format in which they intended you to see it.

Why are grey screens used in 3D projection? We're losing enough light as is.

The screens usually need to be polarized with a silver coating so we can wear polarized 3D glasses.

Good point. He probably prefers 2.39:1 to the IMAX 1.90:1 ratio too.

The original Blade Runner is very slowly paced but was still interesting. Not sure what to expect with this one but it will hopefully have medium or better range 3D if that's possible based on the many 2D framed shots.
