I always notice those charts all show differences in viewing distances. I've been sitting about 5 feet away from my 50 inch TV and the difference is highly noticeable.

That's the correct chart. The stupid chart is the Carlton Bale one.

The posted chart says "Ultra HD Worth It" at that size and distance, so your experience matches the chart.

Why are people acting like manufacturers won't just start only making 8k Televisions so if you need to new TV that is all that will be available. Unless you are old and are close to dying you will eventually be buying a 8k TV.

The resolution bump isn't even the main reason to support UHD, let alone waiting for 8k. When I get a UHD combo-pack I know with confidence I will never buy that movie on disc again. That's a big appeal in doing it. Hell, lots of stuff I buy on BD I know I will never buy again, like niche Arrow Video titles or whatever.

Haha, nice... I'm holding out for mine too, though I am tempted to cash it out and pay off all my debt.

Anyway I think I saw a Sharp 8k LCD @ CES several years ago. It might have just been 4, I don't really remember, but it did look awesome. That shit was putting out some heat though, I think it was like 80 inches.

Just mentioning the pattern:

1996 DVD
2006 Blu-ray
2016 UHD
2026? "8K" UHD

Never ginna happen. 8K will never be mainstream for the next 3 years. While some people want to keep waiting for the next best thing, I just enjoy my 4K. Have enjoyed it for a full year and will enjoy it for at least another 3 years.

Even if 8k TVs come out down the line UHD will still be the last disc format. I guess you might see some extremely rare 8k movie streams for stuff like Lawrence of Arabia.

Haha,...the really smart people extoil no more hard copies of films with the immergance of 8k. How romantic & quaint of you special high level thinkers too inform us, more average members of reality. Again we've seen a load of 8K kit been touted at a recent technology festival & somehow the same amazing-IQ espoucers state its miles away from coming to the public forum(ability to buy stuff). I've not said or stated 8k will be mainstream as I'm a high-roller, not some average joey from usa_naziland! Keep smiling because its all good. Time will fill both of our glasses with knowledge,...

Just to clarify; as I'm unallowed to state people are been idiotic. No not directly idiots but that what members state is dumb or totally misguided due too reality proving them wrong. I've gone with the premise that those same special unthinkers are the epitome of the tip of the amazing imaged spear. The capstone of a mightly unintellectual pyramid so be all you can be & never doubt that you can learn a thing or two. Because been from a certain special delusional society your the best human ever,...number one yeeharr.

Oh and UHD phase 1 or phase A, is followed in 2017/2018 by phase 2 or phase B. Go look it up...its called 8k

Looking forward to the upscale discussions with 8K.

If physical media keeps around, I'm game. UHD Blu-rays have been far more popular than I would have thought.

I'm sure we'll be able to buy 8K movies at some point, but doubtful on a physical format. If so and they were available as downloads, then I'd consider purchasing a few movies that way. But not streaming, no way.

I'm just thinking how bad SD broadcast content would look on an 8K display...
